I saw that video and had to try it out. Something nobody has pointed out but I figured i should make clear anyway is during the jumping into the void section near the beginning you can see i put text that says the daylight cycle is off. This is because with the increased tick rate it rapidly kept changing from day to night causing the screen to flash like crazy. I would have left this as an interesting element for the video but it was horrible to look at so i ended up turning off daylight cycle for this portion just for a more pleasent viewing experience.

I was wondering the same but if you math it out, it's actually only worth it to make the cobble gen for stone tools. Mining cobble with a stone pickaxe is incredibly inefficient and would've dragged this challenge out for a few extra hours. If you want to see the math I'll write it out below. Tree Method (using wooden tools because he's silly) Assume a .7 second delay for bonemeal, average this across 6 logs to get a .11667 delay per block. 1 log = 1.5 seconds break time + .11667 delay per log 1 log = 4 planks 4 planks = 8 slabs 8 slabs / 1.61667 seconds = 4.95 blocks per second Cobble Gen Method (using stone tools because duh) Assume a 8-10 tick (.45 seconds average) delay for the cobble to spawn, this is not negatable using more than 1 cobble since stone tools are too slow. 1 cobble = .75 seconds break time + .45 delay per cobble 1 cobble = 2 slabs 2 slabs / 1.2 seconds = 1.667 blocks per second I also want to give brief mention of the fact that he did already have a source for stone tools: villagers. If he really wanted to be as decked out as possible, he would've just bred his villagers. I think it's fair to assume he skipped it because his only goal in the endgame was to get to the finish line of a difficult journey.

@@iwillgethagh In that case I will re-post this for your reading pleasure. One, he does mention the fact of summoning it in manually after several attempts, so this could be simply corner cutting. Pay more attention with your ears then just your eyes. Two, he later mentions it as a test, so its not part of the rest of the run and is a one off. Three, it may have not been possible to do so in the first place in the regular Minecraft generation, depending on how chunk loading behavior works (Though I am not certain if it works the same across the board). An alternative is he has infact been randomly summoning entities and has been doing the first part for entertainment value. Which sucks that he hasn't been upfront about it, but its hardly the worst action for someone in the entertainment business.
