Board Thickness in PCB Design

Its like you're making these vids for me. I'm currently working on an RF 4 layer board using Altium. I have a DFM(Design Guide for Manufacturing) from my manufacturer and its very important to have active communication with them. I've run into VIA spacing issues, needing micro vias and finding out my layer 1 to layer 2 spacing wont allow for a micro via. Instead I can have a blind via. The difference is a blind via needs a much bigger drill than a standard through via. Talking with them we've changed the trace width and spacing for CPWG a few times as we've adjusted the layer stackup. I really appreciate these videos.

Great video! Can you do a video of how to arrange layers for different interfaces high speed, low speed and power planes for maybe 8L, 10L examples? Enjoying all the videos, won't lie! Thank you for putting them out regularly.

Can you give any pointers for designing and doing callouts for rigid-flex boards? I'm working on my first even rigid-flex board and could use some good advice on how/what to document within the PCB design to make manufacturing go more smoothly. I'm obviously already in contact with a couple PCB shops, but some general broad stroke or industry standard information would be great. I love your teaching style, by the way. As a novice designer of 10 years experience (was a freelance EE and PCB designer for people wanting to make small quantity, small scale projects), now a professional designer, I went looking for PCB design classes or certifications. Your videos were recommended and I can fully understand why. Great content and great range of information! Working on getting a budget for a license and additional training/support/certifications.

Great explanation, what are the considered layout parameters for choosing the type and thicknesses of these layers?

Think about if you need to support high speed signals, how much power your board needs to provide, and the fact that you should include ground for each new layer you add to the board. Most designers think they can try to do everything on 2 layers to reduce costs but professional designs that will actually pass EMC testing should be done on 4 layers with the inner 2 layers as ground. That is the best approach for a double-sided board.
