Boardgame Throwback - Top 10 from 1979

This is 7 years before I entered this world, and my suspicions are confirmed: gaming options back then were solely mass market games based on random luck, or hardcore wargames that feel more like a full-time job to play. :)

I was only 8 years away :) !! You’re right about those war games. I feel like it requires more dedication than I can provide. I need someone to just show my the ropes of one of those old war games because I’d never know where to start!

Circus Maximus piqued my interest at first as well, but then I realized I was hoping it was an easier-to-find Ave Caesar. That was shattered pretty quickly. Awful Green Things seemed interesting, but a little long for a silly Steven Jackson game, no? Um Reifenbreite almost got me, but again, seems long for what it is. Still it is the game I'd be most likely to try - unless you want to square off in a Zoom Boggle session!

Oh, Zoom BIG Boggle could happen!! Agree with Um Reif... there’s probably something more modern that does it better. I couldn’t quite put my finger on Awful Green, which is why I think I want to try it! Ha.
