At 16:48 ish your wife puts her fourth yellow out and gets wild tiles from the middle but I don’t think she got the four points. Which in the end would have made you tied (if there weren’t any other scoring issues but it seems someone else might have found one lol) but over all thanks! My cousin just introduced me to the first game of Azul and in looking up the game I saw all the different versions but this one didn’t make sense to me by the limited pictures on the outside of the box. Watching a whole game made so much sense to me! Thanks

Great video! I think when you deduct points for being the first player to take tiles from the middle, you do not lose a point for the 1st player token.

you're not supposed to keep the four left overs in the corners, those are discarded and counted as negative points . last page of the rulebook just before variant play

Do you mean at the end of round 6? I thought if you place any on the 4 corners they carry over as a part of your stash into the next round. You can’t however keep them on the corners past multiple rounds.

Rule correction at 3:27 you say if she wanted to should could just take this one wild. Actually she can't. You can only take 1 wild if there is only wild tiles left at the location. Rule correction at 5:24 you say you will lose 4 points for 4 tiles taken but actually the 1st player token itself does not count for the loss. Token is not a tile. Rule correction at 6:25 the first player to start in the second phase is the player who just acquired the first player token

Thanks. Great walkthrough! Just bought the game and will introduce it to my family. Seems I bought the right version of Azul. I have a great boardgame shop in my town that normally knows like everything on each game they sell. But on Azul they really didn't know about the differences between the versions. @boardgamecloset Jimmy, I would like to draw your attention to 20:01 where you are discussing that Tara might be cheating at Rajas of the Ganges and actually cheats at Azul ;-) In this round, orange is wild and Tara chooses 2 orange tiles and puts the remaining tiles (a red and a green) in the center.

We found the rules rather complicated, so thanks for the game play example. It's so easy to miss a rule, but if everyone is playing by the same rules (even if they're wrong), to me, that's ok. That then becomes a "house rule". The only conflict comes in when you play with folks who know the rules differently. 🙂

You should move the picture in picture from the bottom right to the top left or right. Basically just move it so it’s not covering up any important information.

For the record, the rules state: “THE START PLAYER TOKEN The player who has the start player token will be the first player to place their tiles on their board in Phase 2; and they will start the following round. This gives them the advantage of choosing tiles from the factory displays first, according to the normal rules.”

You teaching the game wrongly. You shouldn’t count first player token as a negative point. For example: if you take 3 yellow tile with the first player token, you are going back -3 not -4. Unfortunately, you took the first player token as a tile too.

You can’t choose to pull wild tiles. You only pull them by association with a color that is NOT the wild tile. Says so in the rule book.

I thought every time some one picked from the middle it was negative points. I may have read the rules incorrectly. Also I think the 1st player tile isn't deducted.

Thanks for checking out our playthrough! I believe the rules state that you only take negative points if you are the first person to draw from the middle. The rules say to take negative points if you are the first person to draw from the center, for every tile you take that turn. We have always played that to include the first player marker but you could be right there.
