I’m backing because it’s fun. Exactly because it is lightweight, but engaging enough I think it will hit my table plenty enough to justify the back. Also, the art, components, and multiple modes (which all seem fun in different chaotic ways) definitely help. I can take this box and solve a couple of wants during a family/friend game night, coop, semi-coop, 2v2v2, all there :). Awesome review btw!

14:28 Ineresting… I never thought of that in a mechanical way - trying to hold your hand (best cards, etc) back until the optimal time. But I will now definitely be thinking about it!
@cmchristensen4 жыл бұрын
Having played it with you, I feel very similar! It's good zany fun, but the drawbacks are definitely inherent in semi-coop. Although I won, it was due to camping on the last spot and waiting for the right last possible moment to play the right cards, so it didn't feel like an earned win. However, the idea of team play and coop modes, coupled with how configurable the game is is very exciting. I haven't decided whether to back or not, but if someone isn't bothered by the drawbacks, I'd say go for it.

Good review, I personally like this game and I already baked it. It has alsso very nice replayability with new modules and new way to set up the whole ship. What you say about that someone has to fix the ship and some other that do not want to may be true. Bu overall still a dope game.

10:11 Is there ever a point in this game where somebody realizes that they cannot win themselves, so instead of trying to win, that player is actively trying to let the ship get destroyed so that everybody loses? I know of a player at my Game Nights who would make such a move.

@boardgameco I have no interest in the semi coop mode and am looking at backing this game for pure coop. Do you feel it is worth a back for coop only?
@BoardGameCo4 жыл бұрын
I can't say with certainty, depends on how it's implemented....what I can say is the base of the game is a lot of fun, I'm hoping the coop is solid.
@CardboardAlchemy4 жыл бұрын
Btw Therisktake3 - the game rocks for coop - 3 different scenarios to dial in plus the internal levers. It's not just a tacked on game mode. we have uploaded 2 videos to show the coop mode. One on the page, and one will shortly be on the page, both hosted on our youtube channel for Cardboard Alchemy. Hope that helps!

Thank you for this awesome review, Alex. I'm now watching it for the 3rd time because I'm torn whether I should upgrade my pledge on the pledge manager. Problem is VAT that comes on top because of the tax changes in how Kickstarters are handled worldwide. So much money in total! But this game is really intriguing to me, it's accessible and fun. If you want more depth to it, you can adjust on certain modules and things... Ahhhh, it's awful to haver. :-D

nice review and Im also (a backer so far) worried about the end game... seems like a stand off is always going to be the result of it... not sure if thats a deal breaker.... but I like the concept of the game overall! just need to think this through... opinions anyone?
@BoardGameCo4 жыл бұрын
Overall it's been fun....which is why I'm backing it. But it is an annoying end game every time for a few minutes.
@CardboardAlchemy4 жыл бұрын
@@BoardGameCo the end game scenarios you speak of here tend to only happen with first time games. Don't tend to have this ever with the design/dev team, so we think the comfort level with the cards and types of moves changes the meta from a freeze moment to a dash. The customization and unlocks will also keep it fresh

@@CardboardAlchemy good to know thanks!
@m.schwarz4 жыл бұрын
I was worried about exactly this, too. I think it's a direct consequence of the semi-coop nature of the game. So I don't see the problem go away with a group of people who actually want to win the game. I also kind of want to get the game, but definitely not for the semi-coop mode. @BoardGameCo Alex, do you have any thoughts on the coop mode(s)?
@pozeidon314 жыл бұрын
@@CardboardAlchemy Could you elaborate a bit more on why you think this is not a problem with people who have already played the game before? what kind of new knowledge or considerations would naturally avoid that "newbies stand offs"
@fy87984 жыл бұрын
Haha, the moment you said "semi co-op" I was about to just click the video off :D You did sell the game well though despite that. It DOES look pretty good and a much more palatable way to have semicoop due to the duration and lightness (gosh, do semi-coop games feel awful if they're long), though I still feel the inherent drawbacks of that subgenre still apply. The teamplay/coop modes sound way better to me!

I have backed Intrepid a couple of months ago, and while I reckon it's a fairly different game, it is a very similar -theme-...working together to keep a space station from collapsing, plus it is full coop, so I don't think I need this game. It does look fun though. :)
