Hey Alex, glad you did cover Kemet so soon 😋 But I think you got a main compliant with it wrong: You didnt understand why people want the BigBox but not the content - that would truly make no sense 😅 People want the content, but not the BigBox 😉

Hey Alex, Winds of Numa Sera has been doing fake limited pledges. Day one they were saying they had 80 collectors editions available, and it has very clearly changed. The deluxe limited # has also increased. They're also charging $20 for the previously $1 pre-order pre-order "bonus".
@Dstinct2 ай бұрын
If you have paid the $1, you would have gotten access to the private facebook group where they clearly explained how the pledge amounts were going to work. And the $20 price rewards those who decided to pay the $1 preorder, so that gave them a great value. They aren't needed, so that's just the price backers have to pay for not preordering. They could have made it exclusive to preorders which would have likely caused more uproar over it.

Yikes, that's absolutely not cool and I don't support it at all.

Love when you vent and I think it was super important. I also liked your comparison in production between Luthier and Lacerda games. What you receive is a decent Euro game with a huge bling production behind it. In 99%of the games, when I see such high prices with a lot of add-ons and cosmetics I steer away. 1) because it feels like they're compensating on something. 2) because of the same reason you've mentioned- the price will most likely go down. This isn't the next Starcraft or Forbidden Stars or other OOP incredible games. If there will be a demand- there will be a reprint. Thank you for the video ❤

Backed Wandering Galaxies, super excited for it love the system and happy to support Plaid Hat directly. I'm in for a large illustrated mat. Brink could over take moonrakers for my favorite IV Studios game, loved the play at DTE. In for Luthier deluxe cause it's pretty and more United for me.

I decided to back Wandering Galaxies. The only reason was to get access to the entry books. I figure I'm paying an extra $20 for the game which will probably be around the price I can expect to pay for shipping in order to get the entry books directly from Plaid Hat later, if there are any copies available. The fact that they plan to deliver by the end of the year implies they intend to start production very soon after the end of the campaign.

Small correction. Bedouin Games the Rise of Babel was launched just prior to delivering their first kickstarter campaign, The Flood. They just starting fulfillment in North America last week. Their is the possibility the new campaign will close prior to people receiving their delivery. I will not back a new campaign by them until I personally see the quality of the first game when it is delivered. Because they are a new publisher I want to see for myself before backing a second campaign.

I understand your hesitancy with apps in games, and for the most part agree. However, with Freelancers and Forgotten Waters, the app doesn't do a lot more than act as a book, and the voice acting is really fantastic. For the most part you are entering a number from the game, listening to the story, and then possibly making a choice or entering in a dice result. If wandering galaxies is using the same system, it will be worth using, even if you don't love the idea of apps in games. Having the books is a neat idea, but with the amount of story in each game, you'll need to have someone who really loves reading out loud.

Good content as always! However I don’t understand your comment on why some of us are complaining about the Kemet big box. The typical thing to do when there is an expansion is to release a standard-sized expansion box. That’s what many of us are requesting. Sadly, Matagot is ignoring this request and is only offering the big box. I just watched your video on Foundations of Metropolis. You said a reason you’d keep it is that it’s easy to transport to game night. I agree! That same argument applies here. With a normal expansion box, I have the option to just throw the base game in my game bag or add the expansion as well.
@BoardGameCo2 ай бұрын
Ah, sorry, I think I misunderstood...I thought people were frustated that they couldn't get the big box on it's own, not the expansion on its own.

Crowdfunding prices, especially shipping, have been making it easier and easier to avoid backing campaigns. Kemet shipping prices, even the new "lower" prices, are ridiculously high. Publishers have gone too far, and I think it's time for change.

I am glad that Pandora Celeste is funded. Still a bit heartbroken it doesn't get more love while 20 Strong got half a mil day one
@julespaco2 ай бұрын
Completely agree. I think Pandora Celeste is something special between the theme, solid game mechanics, and unique box/board and insert/game overlay! Must really check it out to understand it is NOT Nemesis-lite, and it does it’s own things really well. Additionally, it is not fair to compare PC to 20 Strong, as 20S is already an established game backed by a proven designer/publisher with other successful past titles/IPs intergrated into 20S that help perpetuate its popularity. I believe PC is Guntower Games’ first physical production game project and as an indie designer/publisher it is tough to crowdfund and build hype and a fan base in addition to managing all the production elements of publishing. I really hope PC ends up meeting all stretch goals and has success beyond the initial run.

It's always hard, at the end of the day it can take a long time to build a loyal following. Once upon a time CTG was just an indie publisher.

I can't recall if you ever look at availability of reviews when considering back-or-not? Wandering Galaxies is an example where there's not a single objective review to be found - it's all previews (and presumably paid). IMO, zero genuine reviews is always a reason NOT to back. Looks interesting, but I'll wait for retail or a future campaign so I can see what people actually think about the game.

So tired of people just throwing at publishers running campaigns and not giving incentives to back. It only encourages the behavior. I can understand people who live in places that don’t see widespread retail releases. But if we all stopped backing these types of campaigns they’d either offer deeper discounts or just push them to retail and not get an interest free loan from people who also take on all of the risk of their “purchase”.

Kemet is such a huge disappointment. :( Shipping for the terrible big box is absurd. I was so hyped for the expansion but ~120 Euro for 2 new tile colors is just stupid.

Just got around to watching this (6 days late) and felt the need to comment. Alex, I really, really like your channel and enjoy most of your content, but if there is one thing I feel you could improve upon it's the ultra-heavy focus on monetary value (or perceived value) in much of your content. I could be wrong, but it feels to me like EVERY game you have ever backed or recommended someone else back on crowdfunding is only done with the express anticipation of trying to sell that game in the future. Again, I could be wrong, but that is the impression I get from many of these videos. I've personally backed about 65 board games over the past 5 years or so. Certainly not as many as you and probably not as many as some other viewers of your channel. Of all those games I've backed, I have only selected the "All-In Pledge" one time and the "All-In Game Play Pledge" one other time. Additionally, of all the games I've received (7 are still in various stages of production), I have NOT sold a single one. I've given about 8 away - for free - and one game ultimately went straight into the recycling bin...it wasn't even worth giving away. Call me crazy, but I'm backing DC Super Heroes United...for exactly $65.00! Nearly 50 heroes and villains is more than enough for me as a solo player to enjoy this game for YEARS to come. Obviously, I'm not planning to do anything with this game beyond play it...I might paint it, but that's it. Oh, and I'm also backing the Deluxe version of Luthier, but that's for another discussion. So, why am I even writing all this? I guess I just want to put a bug in your ear to remind you that not every one of your viewers is an "investor" or is looking for the long-term resale value of a crowdfunded game. Some of us are just looking for the value in game play alone, whether the game is a $20 card game or a $100 euro game. We don't care if the game is only worth $1 after we get it, as long as it's fun to play. Please, just try to remember - viewers like me are out here. Thanks and keep up the good work, Robert
@BoardGameCo2 ай бұрын
This is something I talk about regularly, but I can't in every video. I don't back a single game to resell. I back games to enjoy them, but as someone with a limited budget, knowing whether a game can be sold or traded if I don't like it is an important factor. I think I'll do another full video on the subject, stay tuned:)
@robertfoster30962 ай бұрын
@@BoardGameCo Oh, I get it, Alex, but we view the importance of money vastly differently and your mentioning it with every project gives the "impression" of focusing on resale. My entire annual income is approximately $25K as a retiree. If you think my comments are coming from someone who does NOT have a limited budget, you're mistaken. My comments come from a place of just NOT focusing on monetary value with my hobby...nothing more, nothing less. I treat my board game purchases the same way I do a night out for dinner or buying a new pair of pants. To me, they're the same thing. Again, call me crazy... Respectfully, Robert
