Can we all just praise how great boardgame community is, if this were a video game, tv show, book, music, anything else, there would be copyright infringement all over this, but in our hobby, creators are so close to us that it’s possible for fans to make extra content without feeling like they will be shunned. If I were Issac, I’d be so proud that some one out there is as passionate about my project, to make something this insanely huge. I love being a boardgamer.

I've played a lot of Gloomhaven, over 30 sessions. I have Frosthaven coming. There is no reason for me to have this... but I still kinda want it. 🤦‍♂️

Is 1/3 of the base game's scenarios considered a lot? If so, I suddenly feel very bad about myself. *Edit: Unless you play multiple scenarios in each session? Maybe that was it. Have you finished the base game story?

Me too but as soon as I realized that the book isn't a scenario book in the style of jaws of the lion I immediately lost interest, other than the new characters of course.

Went all-in on this after 3d printing a couple of the custom content unity guild (CCUG...i thinj that is all correct) characters, painting them, and ordering cards for the classes to unlock in our GH campaign. So excited to get this: that box, new class minis, add-on content. GH has basically replaced our normal DnD sessions, so the more we can play, the better! Thank you for delving into his box, good sir!

It is cool if Isaac Childres is allowing fans to make content based on his game system. Reminds me of unofficial mods for some video games, such as Skyrim, where fans spend years to make content in those games. This isn't the first time Isaac has done it either, as he understands it just helps promote and sell his product too. Both can exist, and lead to more profits for both.

What's not cool is Isaac forcing the shutdown of the Gloomhaven Helper app. So far I've only heard the app developer's side of the story, but Isaac has been quiet on his side. I would love to have one of the content creators (cough...cough...Alex...) dig and find out the full story behind it.

@@samhowe9986 My guess is that since he is talking to other developers he had to pull the license so that the new dev becomes the officially licensed app distributor for both Gloomhaven and Frosthaven. It's crappy the GH Helper will just be phased out as people upgrade devices but I can understand pulling the license from a business standpoint when Esoteric Software was already pulling away from ongoing maintenance of GH Helper and was not too interested in directing resources to creating Frosthaven Helper.

Are you more on the run around and smash Zombicide end of things or would you gravitate towards a slow, calculated session of Mage Knight? How many people do you want to play with? and...is budget a factor? how about assembling miniatures?

Very impressive indeed! I've always wanted to play Gloomhaven but never got around too it. Recently got a hold of an unplayed copy with an insert, sorted and sleeved for 70$. Don't know when I'll have time to play it but for that price, I just could not resist! 😅

The best way to deal with the Gloomhaven map tiles is take them out of the box and stick them in a expanding organizer folder. I've got the insert from smonex and they just fit better outside of the box, unless you like trying to sort the tiles into a jigsaw puzzle to make them fit, then you still deal with boxlid lift.

Same, I just put them in an self-standing accordion folder and organize them alphabetically. I do this with most of my tile-heavy dungeon crawlers. Sometimes I use ring binders+clear sheet sleeves if the tiles are the thin kind

I have this one coming as well. Very ambitious fan project. I have only played 3 games of physical Gloomhaven years ago with a group of 4. Doubt I finish it, but a great game! I purchased digital version of Gloomhaven and Jaws of the Lion. Maybe soloing those and Frosthaven.

So I'm new to Gloomhaven. If I get this (Yes, I already got the pre-order put in), would it work from the start of the game (I have yet to start Gloomhaven at all) as just extra stuff to toss into it or should this more be played as a sequel to the main game (only add the new content when the main game is done)? Having an additional 14 more characters and more stuff to do in what would be basically a mega game sounds great, but I am curious if it's set up to actually do that.

It uses a lot of the components of base gloomhaven(most) but it is very much a separate campaign. it is not something to add to an existing campaign while its not component wise a standalone it is a separate campaign.

I remember seen a bit of this during the time I was solving the Envelope X. If I recall correctly, there is a Quatryl character that looks like a spider tank. Yet, I wasn't personally very interested in following up more content, specially unofficial.

From the FAQ " What components will we use from Gloomhaven when playing Crimson Scales? A: You will utilize many of the components that come with Gloomhaven, including, but not limited to: board tiles, tokens, items, battle goals, base modifier attack modifier decks (0, +1, -1, +2, -2, 2x, Null, Curses, Blesses), etc. Note that Crimson Scales does come with its own monster and player base attack modifier decks for color consistency, but they are no different than those that come with Gloomhaven."

From what I understand, Isaac has no say in whether or not they're allowed to do it. It sounds bizarre, but it seems to be because they're not making any money on it. The print shop is the only one making money, from a custom print job that lots of different people are involved in. I'm no legal expert, but that's how it was explained.
