I was surprised by Pandemic and Tak. I didn't realize you played them that much. You still sound very excited about these titles. It shows you genuinely enjoy them.

I've played PL:S1 once (very quickly, in the span of about 2 months), but the team was two couples and we now both have kids, so getting the same team together for S2 and S0 hasn't been doable for a good while. I do hope to play all of three legacy games in the future, but maybe with a different team. And I have played the original Pandemic tons and tons of times multi-handed in the app, but I haven't recorded those.

Your feelings for Arnak are impressive to me. I have played Arnak a bunch and feel it always has a same flow: go for resources in the beginning and buy useful cards. Then also focus on exploring/monsters and a bit on research which fluctuates more and more onto research through the game. The same goes for cards, from tan cards to blue cards (forgot the names) throughout the game. Ending up with both players around 4-5, sometimes 6 monsters, and a maxed out research track. The one winning is mostly the one who combo'd the blue cards the best. This has bored me and even though having the expedition and co-op story expansions, where the second one has atrocious setup in my opinion (lots of going back to previous pages), it still can't engage us as much that we regularly play. We love the art, the smooth gameplay, the card system, the explore system and the rewards from the research track so we pull it out every once in a while, which has become once in a year if I had to guess. Do you find some truth in my words and how do you ensure your plays stay more variant?

I think I agree with you, it's down to who plays better tactically most of the time, but for me it's still enjoyable in that format. It's not like some other more complex euros with lots of different possible strategies, here it's whether you want to focus on research, on exploration, or on both, and what cards you get to support your path.

Love the way you put this all together at the end. It's all about finding what mechanics you enjoy.

My current top (logged plays only) is: 1. Mystic Vale - 832 plays (mostly on yucata) - used to have two friends there with whom I'd play 1 or 2 games a day 2. Ark Nova - 402 (mostly on BGA) 3. Rajas of the Ganges - 386 (yucata, physical plays) 4. Castles of Burgundy - 367 (BGA, yucata, physical plays) - though I think more are logged under different editions; and I had plays on boiteajeux as well, but not logged on BGG 5. Dice Forge - 345 (BGA only) - only game from the top I got burned out on, haven't played since May 2021 6. Grand Austria Hotel - 328 (mostly yucata) - still need to play more expansion modules 7. Terra Mystica - 316 (plus about 200 on the app, and 100 on a dedicated site) - my favorite game for most of the years since I started playing board games. 8. First Class - 305 (mostly yucata) - together with Rajas and Mystic Vale they were the first three games I played online when I started to do so, mainly because they were pretty simple and short 9. Lost Ruins of Arnak - 286 (mostly BGA and yucata, some physical plays) 10. Great Western Trail (1st and 2nd ed) - 237 (BGA and physical plays; probably around 50-100 more on a non-official site that no longer exists) - my second favorite game of all time If I remove Dice Forge from the list, the next one would be 7 Wonders - 235 (mostly BGA).

Recently rebooted Code Names, as it was shelved during the pandemic. It is a great game and so glad to see it at the top of your list! There’s a few others I’d like to try, like My City. I just find that the heavier games don’t find much table time. While I enjoyed your review, it would have been nice to actually show the game components, etc. Some of the games you talked about had no visual reference at all, not even the box.

Me and my friends love Cthulhu DMD and we are barely finishing S1- we need to play ep 6. The results are catastrophic. But its fun game. We cannot wait to jump into S2, The lost episodes, and the other seasons- sadly S3/S4 when hit retail because i missed the campaign by a mile!

I enjoyed this list, thank you! I was very surprised to not see Spirit Island on the list though-could you speak some to that? I find it typically has staying power with many, and you at least seemed to love it in the past. Thanks for the great list!

The R’lyeh Rising episode for CDMD is soooo much fun! It’s incredibly thematic too. We played it after finishing S1, S2 and the lost episodes. It was a fantastic way to finish the content we had. You should definitely play it if you get the chance. Thanks for this video!

Small correction on Tak rules: Capstones are added in 5x5, not 4x4. While I used to keep coming back to chess, it has now become eclipsed by Tak; my favorite abstract strategy game as well.
@BoardGameCo3 ай бұрын
I generally only play with them in a 5x5, not sure what I said otherwise but it was mistake :)

Great top 10. Cthulhu death may die, mythic mischief, pandemic.. zombicide would also be in my top 10. Pandemic season 0 was sooo good for me. Loved it. Felt really fresh.❤😊

I'm not sure if everyone winning is 100% true about Nana LOL. My kids beat me EVERYTIME lol. I think out of our 30+ plays, I have only won once or twice. My boys (6 and 13) beat my hubby and I all the time 😝 However... AMAZING little card game. We bought Trio for the kids, and use Nana for us hahah

Zombicide is tricky as it's split up among so many titles...all together it's in this, but no individual title do I have 50+ plays of. And TMB I love, but again, not quite 50 plays.

Love your videos!!!!! Question: do you recommend Castle of Burgundy as a solo game? My fiance doesnt really like board games. Or what other solo games do you personally recommend? Thank you

The new Special Edition of Castles of Burgundy has a new solo mode („Chateauma“) which is excellent and made it one of my most played solo games. Get it, you won’t regret it !

Have you heard of Landmarks? Seems like Codenames, but a bit crunchier
@youvelookedbetter3 ай бұрын
The only negative is that Landmarks has an element of luck, because there are multiple spots where you can put certain tiles. You're just blindly choosing the more correct path in those moments. Some ppl may enjoy that though.

Would you not prefer decrypto to code name…? Overall decrypto felt like a more fun game to us
@hugocruz24393 ай бұрын
I also prefer decrypto, but i consider them different enough to have them both. Codenames is way shorter and more party like, decrypto is a bit longer and more thinky
@tomlikeabomb67063 ай бұрын
Probably more useful to rank by playtime than number of plays which favors shorter games.

I agree, the main issue is that my playtime is a rough guess at best
