Thanks for the play through... I have video suggestion for these type of card games... have a camera on Dave's cards, so we can play along with him and get more out of the watch through. On Dave's turn you can show his cards to the camera, while he makes a decision. It would give us a better feel for the game/strategy/struggles/fun. Thanks for the game!

I had the same thought. May be a little tricky in terms of the tech (and annoying for editing) , but in a hidden information game like this, it would really be nice to know what one of the players is holding so we get a better feel for why our "featured player" is groaning and cheering when a card emerges. Sometimes a really useful card is played and the player rushes to scout, but they don't scout + show, and may wait 3 turns to reveal why they were so excited. By that point, you've forgotten the moment when they grabbed that key card. Makes it hard to track the clever plans and strategies people are deploying--or when they abandon Plan A for a new Plan B. Still, this was a really fun video.

Woot SDJ nominee content - and a wild Murph has appeared! Love Dave’s honesty on being great at shuffling but struggling when sleeved. I really enjoy watching the video closely for the first 20 minutes then I’ll often cook or do gardening while mostly just listening as these are so good for getting the “feel” of an actual play. This is an interesting trick taking game. It almost seems like someone should have come up with this concept before...either beat the hand or take away a card, which makes the hand weaker for the next players. So simple, but such a great concept.

Thankfully, the Oink collection of games on the Switch eShop released Scout in their game menu. Got the game for only $5 and it was a steeeeeeeeal. This game is so much fun. This game looks great. These playthroughs cost me a fortune as I often find myself wanting to buy them afterwards. Just waiting for it to become available in the UK There's no talk about the theme though. Not sure how this links in with the big top artwork?
@jeremybraisher14182 жыл бұрын
The theme is supposed to be you are "scouting" potential members of your circus and each card is a member, one number is their rating on one event while flipping is their rating on another event. For example - Kenneth may be a 6 on the unicycle but he could be a 9 on the trapeze so that card is a 6 one way and a 9 the other. When they are played and you scout a card you are recruiting that member to your show so you could scout that 9 and make a great straight that makes your show unbeatable. The theme is very thin but doesn't take away from the fun of this game at all. We've almost worn our copy out because we are against sleeving trick taking games.

Random question, that I don't think anyone mentioned: Isn't the choice of shapes on the point chits as well as the names/items on cards make it easier for those with issues with readability?

I played this at a local con a few weeks ago. While I can see the appeal, it felt more luck-based than I like. If someone got a strong opening hand, they could go out in just a few turns, which happened about half the time.

I think that they went through all of their copies quickly, especially once it was nominated. It's not even available in Japan. I did see the original edition is available on Amazon.co.jp for $16 plus shipping, which is cheaper than the Oink Games version. I've ordered stuff from there many times and the stuff gets to the US pretty quickly. As a lefty I don't get Lincoln's complaint. Most standard card decks only fan one way as well so I learned to fan my cards so they work. Where are these people who grew up with bidirectional cards?
@boardgamegeek2 жыл бұрын
It's actually not my complaint. This was what the SdJ jury folks were saying was an issue. Nikki does graphics for board games and we have thought about it a lot and I am confused as well about that complaint. If you don't see what you want fan them the other direction. Thanks for the note and for watching.-Lincoln
@boardgamegeek2 жыл бұрын
I'm also a lefty who only ever fanned my cards the "right" way. I never thought of the card design being left or right because you can fan them the same way no matter which hand you use. -WEM
@daddio61292 жыл бұрын
It could be that if the numbers were on both corners the player could switch the order by fanning either way throughout the round. Either by accident or intentionally. Great show!

There seems to be an inbuilt design flaw in this game. The fact that most people play cards sitting opposite each other makes it too easy to mistake which number on the card is the side "up" and in play each round. It would be easier to play this game with all players sitting on one side of the table, looking at the cards the same way up. Apart from that, it looks like fun.
@Sir_I.I_William Жыл бұрын
