How to play the 1983 trick taking card game Rage.
Based on the widely-known card game Oh Hell!, players use the deck of zero through fifteen in six suits to bid for a particular number of tricks and then subsequently take exactly that many. Each game consists of ten hands, with the hand size shrinking by one each time, until the final one-card hand. Along the way, trump is randomly determined and can be changed during the hand through the use of special cards. There are also special cards that make the trump not count for a trick, others that can be declared any suit and value when played, and others that will give bonuses or penalties for taking the trick on which they're played. A newer version of this game was released by Amigo in 2000.

There's a [Swedish?] game of cards, that has both the same "guess the amount of tricks" and decending order and the point system. It's either called "Beredskap" or "Plump", and it's played with an ordinary deck of cards. One of my favourites!

What if your opponent plays the exact same card you do? Same color and number.

Thank you! This seems similar to Rook which I also just learned. I'm so unfamiliar with this type of game but I finally get it!

Thank you for the game play. But I have some questions. If we put the bonus rage card at the end of a round when we don’t have any other cards, who wins it? Also who wins when the out rage card placed?

The first person who plays those rage cards will win the trick if it comes to that

I reckon this game just play like uno but just make up new ideas for the wild cards. Write down physical challenges or similar uno ideas. Even maybe a dice or spinning wheel concept.

Is this a good 2 player game? Another YT video said its not good unless you play 3 or more. Dont want to waste money buying. Could you take the bidding out of the game and just capture cards?

Robert Clark, you can play this with 2 players, but like Norm said, it's more fun with multiple players considering you have 108 cards in the deck. a lot go wasted with only 2 players. You definitely can take the bidding out of it. I almost always do simply because most of the people that I play this with don't quite grasp the concept of bidding and the ones that do understand bidding don't like doing it in this game because of the massive unpredictability of the special Rage cards. It's still fun and I think this is probably my favorite trick taking game.

Robert Clark, I definitely like it more, however I'm slightly biased since I used to be obsessed with any card game by the makers of Uno when I was a kid. But it's not just that, Rage does lend itself well to house rules. pretty well Sometimes if I play with only one other person, we'll start with 20 card hands and work our way down to 10 for the last round just to use up more cards. Also, some people just play all 10 rounds with 10 cards. You could also remove certain special cards like bonus Rage & mad rage to keep the scoring tight or remove entire suits if you have fewer players. It's a pretty cool card game. I'm glad to see its still around, although it's made by a different company now. Uno and Skip-Bo were sold to Mattel when IGI went out of business. This one is made by Fundex now.

Dude McMann I own several old IGI card games. I think the colorful flashy cards were good for sales but not good for the games.Uno is too childish for me. So is Hit the Deck.We really like playing Touring, 5 crowns, and Monopoly Deal.

Robert Clark I didn't know Hit The Deck was made by IGI. I agree some of their games were pretty childish. Of course the entertainment tie-tie-in games like Dukes of Hazard, Sea World & G. I .Joe were geared directly to kids and are pretty bad. While they had some overly simplistic games like Stun & Top That, and a few gimmicky games like Vantage & Grabitz , they also have made some pretty classic games that have stood the test of time and a few really interesting games for serious players. I would put games like Rage, Sting and Luck Plus (which I only recently learned how to play correctly thanks to Norm's KZbin channel) in that category. While i may still be looking at these games through the eyes of a 10 year old kid in the 80s, i still think these last few mentioned are some pretty stellar games. I often wonder how many more better games might have gotten made and marketed by IGI if their owner hadn't gone to jail and been forced to liquidate the intellectual property to other companies. Mattel has done a decent job of keeping this big games like Skip-Bo & Uno alive for newer generations, but it's still not the same without that cool IGI rainbow logo and the little oval sticker that proudly proclaims "From the Makers of Uno"
