I can't believe the number of people throwing a fit over this queue system. It's basic physics that the ride can only carry so many people per day, and right now it breaks down so frequently that the number can vary wildly. Someone is always going to lose out. It sucks, but it's a fact of life. At least this way you know right away if you didn't make it, and can revise your plans accordingly, instead of wasting your day in line and still not making it on. No, it is not a better idea for Disney to allow you to wait in standby just because "you're willing to." If Disney developed their protocols based on what people are "willing" to do, they'd be in deep trouble. The problems with allowing people to wait in a massive line are health, safety, show, and profit. It is not healthy to expect people to wait extended periods without food and restroom access. It is not safe to allow a crowd that large to congregate in one area, in case evacuation becomes necessary. It is not good show to allow the line to encompass and extend beyond Galaxy's Edge. And it is not profitable for people to be tied up in line when the virtual queue gives them freedom to wander and shop while "in line." I think the virtual queue is a pretty equitable solution. I do kind of wish locals who've already ridden multiple times would chill and let new riders have a better chance. 🙂 But eventually they'll get bored and tired of fighting for a spot, too.
@icanmakeyoupur5 жыл бұрын
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT. Every point on here (including the last one) were all spot on! The virtual queue allows tourists, and even AP folks, to make the most of their disney trip by letting them do whatever else they want to do while virtually waiting their turn without wasting valuable time.
@kelsmister5 жыл бұрын
I think the problem lies in the lottery based system. You could get up bright and early at 5 and not make it while someone who just waltzed in at 7:55 gets in. It should be first come, or better yet half and half. Offer half the passes for the app and the other on stand by wait.

@insaneone43695 жыл бұрын

The attraction JUST opened so there is still the hype, however most of us CMs are blocked out for the first few hours of opening to allow more guests the opportunity to ride. Just got back from a trip to Disneyland on monday, spent 5 days out in California and had a 3 day park jopper with max pass plus. I was EXTREMELY fortunate to be able to ride ROTR twice. As someone who has been to Disneyland/Disneyworld hundreds of times (primarily to Disneyworld, although i prefer Disneyland) and as some who views theme park rides as one of the most dynamic and engaging artforums there is, ROTR was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Before even getting into the queue of the ride, I was grinning ear to ear, and when the reveal of the Storm Troopers on the space hangar happened, I genuinely started crying. I was laughing so hard and so excited and impressed by what i was seeing I could barely handle myself. That Laughter/crying of tears from joy more or less continued until the end of the ride. The funny thing is, when i got to ride it the second time, the same exact thing happened, except this time it started during the opening preshow with the hologram of Rey. Again, this mixture of intense laughter/tears of joy continued throughout the rest of the experiences as it did the first time. And this wasnt just shedding a few tears, i was practically balling like baby, and laughing harder then i think ive ever laughed in my life. Both times i rode, this happened to me, it was surreal. When i got off the ride, i was literally speechless. The wildest part is that im not even a diehard Star Wars fan. Obviously, ive seen all 9 mainline films, with New Hope and Empire being downright scifi masterworks. The other 7 have differ in their quality, with a few of them being downright bad. But as someone who truly appreciates the beauty and technological feat of theme park rides, ROTR absolutely a modern classic and possibly the greatest ride ever built. By the way, I really appreciate this channels content, have been a long time fan and always look forward to new videos from you.

I watched your video to get the tips on getting a boarding pass. We were able to get one on Saturday when you were taking this video. My family walked by, in frame, at about the 12:17 mark.

Can we all take a moment to be impressed by an app and network that can assign numbers to more than 15,000 people in 45 seconds?

I was so happy I got a pass Saturday and got to ride again. I heard that this weekend was the first weekend lower passes were unblocked from the holidays. Hence the craziness.

This is truly TERRIBLE, gambling at the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH. APS HAVE ALLL OF THE BENEFITS. I COULDN'T EVEN RIDE IT BECAUSE THE LINE WAS SOOOO LONG.Disneyland is starting to get magic kingdom crowds in a SMALL amount if space. Disney needs to control Disneyland crowds or people are gonna stop going there and are all just going to want to go WDW, because THEY know how to control crowds....

I went on Sunday for my kid's birthday, who planned this for a month. BIG disappointment! We got the Backup Boarding queue and never got on the ride. My kid wanted to cry at 8:02am when we got our [Backup Boarding] queue number. Final boarding queue for the day stopped at 81 at night. Yes, we stayed the entire night. Almost reminds me of Radiator Springs. Took me over a year to finally get on that ride, with a fast pass. Well, good thing Dole Whip saved the day, sort of. Bright Suns!

I was there Friday-Sunday and everyday it was WILD!!!! Got to the esplanade at 7:10 everyday and BARLEY made it in the gate on sunday (7:59 lmao), somehow I lucked out with really good boarding passes every single time--18, 24 and 17-- your tips from the q&a worked great!!
@2000calleen5 жыл бұрын
Sammy Cheeseburger what has been your strategy to get the boarding passes?
@sammycheeseburger5 жыл бұрын
@@2000calleen I'd say get to the esplanade by 7 (sunday was hard for everyone to get in the park because they didn't open the gates til almost 7:45?? It was rediculous), once you're in the park find a spot where you have the best service-- don't recommend using wifi!! Make sure the people you want in your boarding group are the ONLY people linked to your app (delete extra people! It saves time) Then a few minutes before 8 TOTALLY hard close the Disneyland app and reopen it... most importantly, when you are on the home page of the disneyland app do not hit the "find out more" on the rise of the resistance module until 8:00 on the dot!!!! I watched the second hand on my watch and immediately opened the module and hit join a boarding group and got a really low group everytime... best of luck to you and everyone trying to get one!! It's so stressful 😩😭

FreshBaked, David and a very late Ron, Who new it was Daylight at 8 a.m.? The energy and excitment as everyone gets their boarding passes is amazing. The saddest thing is watching all the people still using their phones to get a b/pass but nothing's happening. The look on their faces, it's like watching a slow motion car wreck. At the weekend people were starting to arrive between 3.30 &4.00 a.m. at the esplinade.Cheers, Chris Perry.

David, we went yesterday, my wife, son and I got group 57, everything was going great, my son and I were able to get in the queue at 11:50, the ride is amazing, we had a rider switch but unfortunately the ride went down and the wife and son had to wait two hours before the ride reopened .. and just before entering the holding cell the ride went down again...she was unable to ride yesterday as we had to go home.

It’s frustrating that Disney has already started understaffing parking and security after last week. It’s going to make guests feel like they have to arrive at 6am, the very thing the 8am boarding group drop was meant to discourage.
@insaneone43695 жыл бұрын
They want your time. They want to make you suffer. The more time of yours they have and the more you suffer the more they see you as profit. The more people are waiting around. The more unhappy they become the likelihood of them spending money is higher.
@altosax185 жыл бұрын
Disney is very good at making lines worse. The parking structure is terrible because of how Disney runs it. Multiple booths merging into one lane and then only loading one or two levels at a time. The Pixar side is even worse, 6 lanes merging into one after the booth.

We went on Sunday and we didn’t make it in on time... 😭 we were walking up to Disneyland when it hits 8 and all I hear was just cheering. I am going back on Saturday and now I know to get there even earlier. Asides from the ride I’m building my droid!! So I’m excited for that.

Watching this gives me more anxiety about getting this boarding group next weekend. It’s so hit and miss. I’m ok with getting there by 7/715 because we do that anyway but seeing all these people there that wouldn’t normally be there and the crowds so quickly it’s a mess. We have Flex Pass annual passes and go every 2-3 months. So my next chance won’t be til dapper day in April. 😩😳 just hoping I’ll be one of the lucky ones.

I’m an AP myself and tried to go on Sunday for the first time. Unfortunately, crowd control sucked that day and I got scanned in at 8:02, and it was probably the worst day in the ride’s operation so I didn’t get to go on it. With that being said, I just want to see it once and ride it again later when the hype dies down. I think they should do away with the boarding passes in the very near future and just implement the standby because it’s a really frustrating system that puts people who don’t visit often at a disadvantage
@richardperhai82924 жыл бұрын
Standy would be a nightmare right now with its reliability. Imagine standing in line 8 hours and getting dumped. Worse, since the queue hold 8,000-10,000 people imagine all those people being dumped at once. And imagine opening... everyone running like madmen to get to the ride. Crashing at the entrance. And still not getting to ride. Right now BG is the only sane way to manage it... basically its a FastPass without a reserved time. Not everyone can get a FastPass. Not everyone can get a BG. No difference really.

We are visiting CA in a few months and I’m hoping it won’t be this crazy. I don’t even care to ride Rise of the Resistance; I just don’t want to wait in a 2 mile long bag check line with a toddler 😟

@ 08:58 ... actually getting a really great kick out of seeing you and your fellow vloggers congratulating everyone and encouraging everyone who did get a boarding group for that day. Also really glad to see you, as a vlogger and AP holder choosing not to, am I correct in assuming that was because mr Park Commando Ron had not yet made it onto the ride yet?
