I was there with my wife on Saturday 2/01. We got Boarding Group 119. I was so bummed because I was sure our group wouldn’t be called. However, Rise just kept chugging along that day with no break downs and our group was called around 6:50-7:00pm. The last group I saw called that day was 133.

To see how many people didn't get a Boarding Group Pass check out the exit to the park and the lines at City Hall or CM Service partitions. What percentage of them are complaining about not getting a BGP.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Minor spoilers here. As you point out, there are 8 people per vehicle. The biggest bottleneck is the interrogation and ride vehicle loading sequence. The ready rooms and the shuttle can handle a fair number of people, and at about a 3 minute interval you can get lots of people briefed and through the shuttle and on to the star destroyer. There are four interrogation rooms serving two load areas (two rooms per area). Now, reports I have heard from the parks are that in the first couple of weeks we only saw two of these rooms in use (one per load area). This makes sense as there is a learning curve. The interrogation scene takes a minute and a quarter to a minute and a half from the time you enter the room until you are "broken out" and have access to the ride vehicles (unless there is a delay, which they can take on to the front or back of the interrogation). The load sequence takes another 1 - 1.5 minutes depending on how smoothly the load goes before your vehicle starts moving through the attraction. And you've got 16 people in each room to load two vehicles at a time. When they lead you out to load you up, the "breakout" door closes right behind you, so another group can be immediately interrogated. So with two load stations adding a little bit of fudge time, each could load a group every 1.25 - 1.5 minutes if being served by two rooms (room timing is staggered), or every 2.5 - 3 minutes if being served by one room. So if we say that a group is loaded by each station every 1.5 minutes, then each station is loading 640 per hour...x2 stations is 1280. And if they get that down to 1.25 minutes...768 per hour per station, and so 1536 per hour. Which seems like a good hourly capacity to shoot for. In theory, If they were really cranking them through the interrogation scene and getting folks in the transports quickly, they could load each station every minute (1920 per hour including both stations). I think that would be max theoretical capacity, I just don't see them being able to load a group and get them on their way and the new vehicles in place in less than 60 seconds. Right now, though, we aren't operating at optimal capacity, and it would seem that we are not using all the rooms all the time. For a two room configuration, each station is loading once every 2.5 minutes or so, which gives you a capacity of 768 per hour. We can round up to 800 because they might be a little more efficient even if they aren't quite ready to operate at full speed. And right now, when we have a great day at DL, we see about 10 groups per hour on average. I think that groups are 80 people because 80 * 10 is 800, but also because 80 people is 10 ride vehicles, and 10 vehicles per group is a nice round number that makes it easy for the imagineers to track performance. Pure conjecture.

I don’t know, for me every time I see one of these videos while I absolutely appreciate you guys, I feel sad for some reason. This just doesn’t feel like my Disneyland, everyone standing around staring down at a screen waiting to become thrilled and fulfilled by this new experience, and devastated if it doesn’t happen 😞 My husband and I are coming out in April for our annual week at the Disneyland Hotel anniversary, and honestly as much as I am looking forward to galaxies edge and all that it involves, this part just does not appeal to me whatsoever. Again, love love love fresh baked and absolutely appreciate everything you guys do every day 😊

My hubby and I met Ron last Saturday walking in from Downtown Disney... and we would agree with him that ROTR sets a new standard for an immersive ride. This ride was mind blowing. It was cool meeting him 😁 We were in the park all week and were 6/6 for boarding pass tries. We got close to not riding on Sunday due to breakdowns and we were in boarding group 80. On Tuesday we were in group 91and made it on with no issues. I would say there could be 10,000 plus in the park on Saturday morning. We were in line at 6:30… And the lines were really long then… Since it was magic morning folks were in the park starting at seven… We were by the castle when we got our boarding passes and there were tons of people there… who knows though. We didn’t hear many people say they didn’t get one either... oh a couple days that we rode it, The Queue was not very long and in sections of the ride there were hardly any people… It really felt like the ride was not at capacity

David - speaking for myself, a person without an AP, if I paid the price of admission to the park and was one of the unlucky ones not got get to ride Rise, I would be less than enthusiastic. In fact - I would feel cheated. The virtual queue works to an extent, but if you're like me and only get to the park once or twice a year... it's a little daunting. I wish they could come up with something a little more egalitarian, but honestly I can't figure out what that would be.
@gayladenison5925
@gayladenison5925 5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. For a start, the people that have already been on Rise (some of them have ridden it SEVERAL TIMES) could STOP signing in at 8:00 am to attempt to ride again. That would give the others that haven't gotten on a better chance to get a boarding pass. Especially the people that come from out of town and have large travel and hotel expenses. I can understand why everyone would want to ride over and over, but it seems like it's an "all about me" day and age. I'm sure most of these people have annual passes and also get the southern California discount on these passes. I really do love Disneyland, however they need to come up with a better solution to this issue. 🤨

The park can do more than 10,000 an hour through the gate. But in less than 30 minutes 10,000 is pushing it. That ride capacity is low or it’s breaking down too much. Or they aren’t pushing the full capacity. If 80,000-90,000 are in the park I’m guessing 20,000 plus want to go on the ride.

Download the app now and start practicing from home when you can. You can't actually get a group since your ticket hasn't been scanned, but you can get to the important screen - the one where you first start to join a boarding group. That's the screen which is locked until opening time. The faster you can get to that screen, the more likely you are to get a lower boarding group number.

It's so easy to say "oh you didnt get a pass you still have the rest of Disneyland to enjoy" if you are a passholder that goes to the park frequently lol. There is so much hype around this ride. Who wouldn't be disappointed if their once in a lifetime or every few years trips they couldn't get on? Smh. Good luck to those traveling afar. I hope I get to try it myself on my annual trip in Sept. I was gonna go in March but, no way.

it applies to everyone. think of it this way, if there were no Rise ride at all, would you just not go? Of course not, because Disneyland is an amazing to place to be, and an excellent consolation if you miss getting on any ride you're trying to. There's only so much Disney can do to make Rise available to as many people as possible.

@@FreshBakedDisney Yes, but the current situation is this big brand new cool attraction. Everyone wants to get to check it out themselves and why wouldnt they? No way the majority people at the parks right now are non locals getting on that ride. Disney should at least guarantee people who purchase at least a 3 day park hopper a pass to get on this ride ONCE during their stay.
@andreajoki9758
@andreajoki9758 5 жыл бұрын
One of the things I don't see mentioned about virtual queue is that it allows a broader spectrum of people to ride - from what I see at Hagrid's, it's a lot of e.g., annual passholders riding over and over because they don't care about missing any other rides anyway (they've already done them and so 3-4 hours loss is nothing to them). So the people who only have that day to visit Disneyland would likely miss the ride for sure without boarding passes because they'd have to commit 3-4 hours waiting in line and miss so much else about the park while doing so. I'm curious though if they should allow guaranteed boarding groups for Disney resort guests like they did for the GE opening. Those people travel long ways and I hate the idea that they miss their once chance to ride in years.

@10:29 Ronnie, "Why?" Think about it like this: Big Thunder in the early AM has only 1 train running, but the ride is ABLE to have, what 3, 4 (I don't really know how many) trains on the tracks at the same time. Is RotR being operated at max capacity?? Are they cycling the transport ship as often as possible? With 100% capacity? Are the trackless vehicles departing at maximum frequency? Since they still seem to be having regular break downs, I'm guessing they are not pushing it to max capacity for several reasons.

Finally experienced this on Saturday and I couldn’t believe how mind blowingly amazing Rise was. I got boarding group 14 because I got an exact time app and counted down to the very second. However I had to arrive at Mickey and friends at 5:40 to be sure that I’d be in the park on time. The boarding group virtual queue is highly stressful and very unfortunate for those who don’t know exact what to do and exactly when to do it. 5 seconds after I got 14, the family next to me got group 127. The feeling I got from seeing the group 14 was incomparable and amazing but there has to be another way to make sure more people get a chance at experiencing this. I just have no idea what it is and I don’t think Disney does either

Question on capacity for Rise: How many loading rooms are there? I believe there are 4 interrogation cells but only 1 load area? If we assume it takes about 1:30 to load/launch 16 riders (which seems viable given that in the "Complete Rise of the Resistance Experience" video the door to load opens at 18:25, so the transports are parked by then, and with a slight cut in load we see the returning transports about 19:13 almost entering load) this is only 40 transports an hour (90 second with 3,600 seconds per hour) or 640 people. Even at a launch a minute this is 960 people an hour so I'm really curious as to where the 1.1k came from along with the "1,700 riders per hour" I found via google.

I saw another vlog but don't remember whose that had run all over early to find the best place for cellphone reception. They even floated the idea of getting your ticket scanned for admission to the park, stroll around for a bit and then head for somewhere like Downtown Disney where it may not be as crowded to try for a boarding pass. Has anyone tried this yet and what were the results. After all, you were technically admitted to the park and certainly they don't know who temporarily left for better cellphone reception.

This isn’t fair and unless you’re buying a ticket every time you go, you should be taken out of the lottery for a while. Sorry, but if you’ve ridden it more than 2 times in one month and you’re a pass holder I don’t think you should get to try again til next month. I don’t think it’s fair that some ppl get on it so much while others may never get to.

Gayla Denison Yea I understand but I have an annual pass and it still isn’t free we have to pay $25 parking every time we want to go and gas to go to Disneyland. But I was lucky to go on 3 times since some times we might go with friends one day and then family another day. It still cost money for parking, gas, and food for the whole day.

Ian Yzabal So 2-4 times a month wouldn’t be enough? You’d have to be allowed more?? Knowing ppl pay over $300 sometimes for a day and don’t get in? See first of all you’re paying for that and getting on. Also, I guess I’m just not greedy bc I actually got on since that post and I still would be fine with a few per month so more ppl could get on. I have thee most expensive pass you can have, it’s not like I’m not paying to go there every time too, but a lot of us are getting nothing for it unlike you who is. Why isn’t it fair for us (me too now that I made it on) to say okay I’ve gone 3 times this month I can wait til next month? That just seems greedy to other fans and I consider this fandom a community.

It's hard to watch them criticize people who are discouraged about not getting to ride. The one guy says "I'm here every single weekend and there are always other things to do". If you're like me and coming from the middle of the country, and you only have the opportunity to come once every 5+ years and you pay so much to get out there and you are just placing so much hope on the process. I feel like this could have been designed in a way that had much greater rider capacity even if it makes the ride a little shorter or less in some way. Disneyland claims to be the "Happiest Place on Earth". Not so much for those who don't get a boarding group even if you were there as early as everyone else. Disappointed in Disney.

one shouldn't confuse disagreement with criticism. We're not criticizing, we're saying their is more value to the virtual queue than some are giving it credit for. Standby is not the answer many think it is. For example, it is my understanding that the Hagrids queue is FULL of locals every day. Guests for whom it is easier to just show up and do only that. The virtual queue actually levels the playing field, as long as you're there at 8 am. Access to the attraction will be limited either way. But on the plus side, whether or not you get in, you have the rest of Disneyland to enjoy. If you get to Disneyland once a year, do you really want to spend the entire day waiting to ride Rise?

I've been watch people try to figure out the rise of the resistance. Capacity. As far as RotR I like the boarding pass, as someone that only gets to Disneyland once every year or two, I will not wait in lines more that about 60ish minutes and that is extreme. Some think it is only running at 2/3 capacity

Honestly, It's different every day. But the park is usually packed during the afternoon and early evening. I went for three days last spring and Tuesday was light crowds. Wednesday was super heavy crowds. Thursday was nearly as busy but not quite as busy as Wed. All three days, the crowds were tolerably sized and getting on most rides took far less than an hour (except for Radiator Springs!). It was super fun! Generally weekdays are better but any day can be crowded or not... relatively speaking, that is! ;-) Use the Fresh Baked plan. 1 Choose to enjoy yourself and 2 let the "Disney Winds" guide you! It works wonders on the stress level when you do! Happy trip!

I'd like to know exactly how many boarding passes they have for that ride. EVERYBODY that walks into the park should have the chance to ride at least once. I'm sure there are people who have gotten to ride multiple times and some people who haven't gotten a chance to ride at all. There has to be a happy medium. So how many transporter vehicles are there in total? If there are only 2 they should of gotten more so more people can ride at a time. Pirates and Small World have a constant refill of boats for more people at a time. They continously take in people. Like non stop..until the ride breaks down.

I enjoyed the math work you guys did. Decided to do a bit myself. Using google earth i calculated the area of Main St and town square about 56,000 square feet, area between gates and the railroad tracks is another 12,000. A dense crowd is calculated at 4.5 sq. Ft. Per person and a light crowd at 10 sq ft per person. So depending on how dense the crowd is on main street you could get 7,000-15,000.

Ok lets do the math because it's not adding up, each dispatch sends 16 guests through the ride and for lack of knowing exact dispatch times let's say it is 20 seconds so every minute 48 riders per minute are going through the ride. Multiply that by 60 and you get 2880 riders per hour. Multiply that by the hours in a day and you get the theoretical capacity. But since the ride is not at full capacity. Let's say the ride is doing 30 second dispatches that means the hourly theoretical capacity is 1920 and if the ride ran for a full 12 hours it would have a capacity of 23040 riders per day if the park was at full capacity let's say 85000 people that means only 27% of guests could experience the attraction. It's not a lot of people to be honest.

@Cutelatinguy2 "And that's time wasted when you could be enjoying other parts of the park " Let me fix that for you: That's time wasted when you could be spending money in other parts of the park. Never forget that Disney is a for-profit enterprise. If you're standing in line for hours, you're not buying food or buying souvenirs. You're probably not having a good time, either, which might impact your willingness to return again on another day.
