Boat Battery Power: Dead Battery Bad Starter or Bad Battery Cables?

Is the problem cause by bad battery, bad Starter or bad cables? Boaters often assume that the batteries or starter are damaged and overlook testing the battery cables and using voltage drop testing to isolate and confirm bad components. We show how to isolate and test the batteries, jumpers, battery selector switch and main cables. Boat battery cables are prone to corrosion and cable failure is a very common problem especially in salt water environment.
