You can get those pistons "top pinned" to make it impossible for the ring locator pins to back out.. The Mercury guys do it all the time here in the US.. Look it up if you dont know about it

Great to see it all back together again, just did my transom and had first run today..nice to see you cruise past us at Charis! Great work As an old guy over the years Ive heard the stepped transom is great on a deeper V hull, reduces running length of the hull, which in turn reduces drag and allows you to have motor a bit higher while still keeping the prop in clean less desturbed water = better speed 😄

Man this is cool content. My 2 cents worth. Aim to turn your 2.5 at 7k. Run a 25 or 26 inch prop about 2 inch below pad. You will be in the 80s mph Use s fuel oil mix of 40 to 1. Check the spark advance on every cylinder and then set the timing at 25 deg on the cylinder that is most advanced. One can be out a bit due to the electrics. If you replace a liner then its most likely that the block deck will be need machining. This will affect your squish. You need 1mm squish. The stepped transom will act as set back which affects the water level at the propshaft. Water rises as it leaves the transom. I always use 2 transom mounted low water pick ups. They never fail.

Do blocks with these repairs and the build etc. ever considered reliable? Or as high performance it’s expected to have failures often? In the snowmobile sport, mods mean failures, but fun for a minute

Yes your 💯 right, once you start talking performance you end up finding the weak links in the chain, it's a long process of finding the sweet spot of having extra power but sustaining reliability.. then again we are talking about boats you have to be fine with burning money and throwing the ashes into a pit haha
