Luke I'm sure your stringers on the desperado are mush. Make sure you block the hull really good so when you cut the stringers you don't lose the shape of the hull. You can easily twist the hull if not blocked correctly when you cutout the stringers.

From a small engine mechanic, be careful starting a motor with the drill from the flywheel nut. If she cranks, if it's not at idle it'll outrun the drill. And you gotta continue giving the drill full beans once it starts until after you've cleared the socket from the flywheel nut regardless of if it starts or not. If you don't, you can knock the flywheel nut loose. I've done it several times. Did it one time on the water. Motor started and ran fine for 5 minutes before the nut completely backed off. Motor wasn't running right so i had the cowl off. Nut flew into the water and the flywheel jumped off the crank like a beyblade from hell, tore my arm up pretty good. Thankfully the flywheel stayed in the boat, but we had to paddle back to the dock. Ruined a fishing trip

It's good to hear you are easing up on making content so you can get the projects you have going on completed before winter shuts you down. Can't wait to see the Desperado complete and back on the water and ready to go crabbin'. This video reminds me of my first boat I built while going to college and working at the lake resort I lived in and worked at. It was great living full time in my rv and working there while working on my aviation dual major with a minor in IT. There were old boats all around there, plus two boat shops that could get me parts easily. The internet wasn't even created yet. Only intranet at the college and a few business'. This was even pre-Windows 3.1. However, through scavenging parts from several boats and engines, I was able to come up with a reliable 20 year old 19' 45:15 boat with a 100hp outboard that we could ski with as well as go fishing out of on Lake Texoma on the Oklahoma Texas border. It took all of spring and half the summer of 1990 to get it on the water in her best shape. My boat and motor were way bigger, but the effort that went into her was the same as your Monkey Wards 12' Jonathan boat. Great video, and I'm always looking forward to your next one. I love that you are always positive and have a can do won't give up attitude. ❤❤❤

Those sears gamefisher motors were made by a handful of different manufacturers depending on the year. I believe the earlier ones were made by eska/tecumseh and then they were made by force, which was a chrysler motor that was later the same crappy outboard, but from mercury. The first numbers in the serial number can tell you who made it.

My current 1542 duck boat, I built... I bought the hull at cabelas(in 2018) the trailer from a dealer(used for $300) then I bought a Thai longtail kit and gx390 copy(now a predator 459 max) and then I got a blind and... well... I may not have the best rig, but the satisfaction of putting all the pieces together... and I have a pretty decent duck boat I did myself. I did pay a guy to add the pods, I can barely weld steel, I'm not about trying aluminum, lol!
