Hopefully it made you forget about your fender! I was watching your latest video today and that terrain was really challenging!

Where did you get that canopy?; I want one!!! I need one!! Nice heavenly week!! Amazing. I didn't make it out there. Got stuck working! :( Maybe over the winter when things slow down for me.

Oh man I was hoping you made it out there. Well at least you could live vicariously thru the video lol. I bought that shade so long ago I have no idea where I got it. It really helps. If I run across it I’ll let you know.

How often do you have to empty your holding tanks...and where do you do it? How does that work...Fee from a dock? (sorry, I know zero about boats/harbors)

If there are a couple of people staying on my boat when we’re on a mooring in Avalon - we would empty the holding tank once a week. In Avalon you can empty the tank for free at their pumpout dock or you can pay a service to come to your boat at your mooring to pump it out. At our home port (Alamitos Bay) there are a couple of pumpout stations which are free and there is a pumpout machine which can be used at my boat slip - which is also free. Finally, you are permitted to dump your holding tank if you are 3 miles off the coast - but we don’t do that. Thanks for your questions!

Any hiking/biking there?

There’s a lot of great hiking on Catalina Island and I think much of it you can do on a bike. (basically dirt secondary roads). Episode 6 has a hike that we often do that gets you high enough to see the other side of the island. The Trans Catalina Trail is 38.5 miles and you camp out along the way. We’ve never done it, but I have friends that have and they say it’s amazing but grueling. If you go during the summer it can be very hot with little shade. Below is a link for the trail. www.visitcatalinaisland.com/trans-catalina-trail/

That’s a good question. I’ve never seen Mosquitos on the bay. It typically does not rain May-September so there’s little water there for them to breed. We do get mosquitos on the mainland because of all the sprinkler systems for the lawns. But there are very few lawns in Catalina. There are a lot of bees on the island that come around when there’s food out. No other bugs to speak of. Thanks for watching!
