Bernie, thank you. It was 50 Gb of video when we first started editing and over 40 minutes long. It took 14 hours to edit using the boats solar power over two days. So when we get comments like yours it just makes it all worth while. We are not professionals and giving something back in our retirement is something we want to do. Thank you for watching and your comment. Its comments like this that inspire us to keep posting. Ant & Cid xx.

How do you do this (21.00) if you have two batteries and dont know which one is grounded to the circuiit?
@SVImpavidus2 жыл бұрын
Set your multimeter to volts DC. Test between the positive at the switch and either battery to find out which one is connected. When you have the right one you will have a voltage. But note that generally boats have the negative of all batteries as a common IE they are all connected. Hope this helps. Ant

Thank you. Hope you enjoyed the other 4 videos in the series too? It's become quite popular and we think that this will now become a regular feature along with our journey videos. So that we can pass on skills to others. In the words of Sherlock Holmes. Elementary. 😁 Ant & Cid.

SV Impavidus (Ant & Cid Sailing) many thanks, yes I have watched them all and learned a lot, I will keep them as reference for when my stuff breaks, then have a go at fixing it myself first before calling for help :)

Thanks for your instructive video. Could you explain which circuits on a boat typically are switched and which are unswitched, and why is that. Many thanks! Silvano

Silvano Cometta. Hi Thanks for watching. Yes we will cover this in a future video. But, For now there are two that need to be unswitched for safety. 1, is the Auto bilge pump that should have a constant feed (we covered this in a previous video) and 2, is the warm air diesel heating. It must be allowed to cycle through it's cool down sequence through the computer and not be switched off or it can cause a fire. Hope this helps and we add more later in the series. Thank for the constructive comments, they are always welcome. Sail Safe. Ant & Cid.

Pretend you walk in flip the switch and no lights come on , they get power from the Battery Bank , there is a switch and wire and should be a Fuse. You could trouble shoot your Light this way and or many other things by looking at bits of the Whole. Ty!

Quite true. In the army we were taught to work backwards from the problem. They spent thousands on logic charts and fault charts for use in the field. The best guys I know could spot a problem a mile away, knew what to look for first and only went back to the manual after 5 mins if the nut behind the wheel forgot to switch the ignition on.
