In America, for the most part, we just leave the burning boat docked and we do not move neighboring boats out of harm. This creates quite an exciting show when many boats go ablaze, sometimes setting docks and boathouses on fire too.

You have to use water. Fire hoses from a fire boat or fire hoses extended from the dock to the boat. Training and preparation.

if you ever witness a fire at sea, and you are in a jet ski or small boat with outboard engine, you can put the fire out in minutes. Incredible for me to see these fires, while there are people with jet skis and small boat with outboard engines, panicking like headless chickens... Just pull the engine a little out of the water and use the propeller to shoot water towards the fire. Just saying...

What is it with all of these people who don't know th first thing about the most effective use of any type of fire-extinguisher? Firing the thing from a hundred feet away into the air just wastes the contents.

What a bummer. It’s too bad then that the public boaters trying to help wasted all of those dry chemical fire extinguishers. I hope that the Fire Department there taught them that with any Fire extinguishers you must get close to the seat of the fire in order to extinguish the fire. Using a sweeping motion. How they were doing it did nothing. They needed to get close to what is burning. It was a nice try but doomed to fail. I’ve been on a few boat fires in my career. Retired 34 year firefighter from California.

I'm sorry to say that no one has any idea how to use a fire extinguisher 10 meters from the fire is useless, they should have removed the boat first and not at the end ... of course you have to be prepared for certain accidents ... and easy to talk seated and quiet but still a lot of incompetence

No kidding. early every shot was over the top of the fire, rather than at the base of the fire where the source was. Complete nonsense. Since fire extinguishers go out of date periodically, one should use those for practice or to teach your kids how to put out a fire.

It doesn't matter if they are 1st world, 3RD or 2nd world. IT doesn't make a difference if they don't read the fire extinguisher instructions! As an American I have seen plenty of 1st world people not use a fire extinguisher properly. Shooting it up in the air? Yup, Seen it many, MANY times. Just check out the Internet for FAIL videos.

And yet another example of the average person is below average. Idiots wasted all of the fire extinguishers because they pointed them at the flame. You point them at the base of the flame. I’m so surprised that at least half of these people would have had proper fire instruction. By not knowing these things people will die.
