If your in NSW Australia they cannot stop you fishing on the inside either as long as you not damaging anything your ok to fish it, look up the Maritimes acts. Unless it's a fish sanctuary designated by nsw DPI then that is different

If this is the case I'm going to arm up, I'm sick of lures and damage to my boat and seapen. . .
@olpol7795Ай бұрын
The reason marinas do this is very simple - and it's not because they're anti fishing or anti fisherman, but rather they have to take liability for the condition and cleanliness of the berths. For instance, if your line got snagged and you had to break it off, and it's left dangling in the watercoumn when a boat comes to dock, or even just comes anywhere near it (current and wind) it's propeller could get caught in it and it could do damage to the boat. Or if there's a popper floating on the surface or a hook caught in the rubber of the dock. I'm not saying that you would leave any news as I'm sure you'd try your best to mitigate it, but marinas and boat owners alike want to avoid damage at all costs which is why they don't allow fishing or don't like fushing .

Doesn’t matter…they don’t own the waterways
@the_black_douglas9041Ай бұрын
Bullsh17. That’s like saying carpark owners don’t like pedestrians with shopping bags, because they might accidentally bump a car and damage it on the way past, or drop a glass bottle and accidentally puncture a tyre. Nice try, but complete bullsh17. It’s all about trying to make a silly case that they own the water.
@olpol7795Ай бұрын
@@the_black_douglas9041 Obviously they don't mind pedestrians with shopping bags because that's their business! The pedestrians with the shopping bags are paying for parking, so of course they want them there. The marinas business doesn't rely on people on kayaks fishing around the berths.. so why would they want them there - especially if they are at risk of damaging the berths and potentially risking the health of owners boats. Not 'Bullsh17' at all.

NSW maritime says that they do not have any legal basis to direct you to do anything at all, if you accessed the waterway from a public vantage, and remain off any permanent structure attached to and defined by the property boundary you are free to undertake any lawful activity that you please. The owner/operator of the marina "owns" the ground underneath their facilities, but the water that lies on top of this area is public access and under no jurisdiction of a lease holder.

Thankfully generally speaking when I’ve had fishies casting next to my boat and I’ve asked them not to, they’ve moved down the dock a little. The reason I appreciate people not casting next to my boat because in the early days I had a rather unpleasant fella manage to hook and tear a shade cover and then immediately manage to hook and tear a sail. Boat owners generally just want to look after their boat.

I was following closely your advice about signage and legal rights, clearly explained in straight forward and unbiased language, right up to the bit about fcukwits!...I nearly spat my lunch out, well played....Its funny how obscene amounts of money can buy you everything you ever want, but most of them still have NFI!

I don’t know why they call it a fish sanctuary. I’ve been told the same thing at a total different marina.

This one is definitely not a "fish sanctuary" so this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. As a general rule you can fish on the outside of any marina.

Liveaboard yachtie and keen fisherman here. There are good reasons why fishing isnt wanted in a marina. Damage to boat hulls from cast sinkers and lures.. line wrapped around props are a good start. How would u like to be backing your $700,000 10 ton boat out of your berth to suddenly lose power and crash into other $700,000 boats because some entitled fisherman left his gear wrapped around your prop. Ask yourself how you would feel about someone going to the car park and flicking lead wieghts and lures around the parked vehicles.. bit of a no brainer to a fair minded person i would think.
@GoldenHourFishingАй бұрын
A couple of things 1. I think you know very well that a 1-3 gram jighead being flicked from a couple of meters away will do no damage to a boat hull. 2. Your comparison to a carpark is pretty silly because fish don't congregate in carparks and sharing the water with anglers is just par for the course when you buy a boat. Of course you would be crazy flicking lures in a carpark. Not so much on the water though no? 3. The amount of line it would take to disable a $700,000 motor would be crazy! Not to mention how rare it would be to get it tangled in a prop.Tell me how a couple of meters of 0.6 P.E leader could do this. 😂😂😂 Your reasons are the most unlikely and over dramatic scenarios. And the damage you are talking about could never be caused by a light tackle bream angler. If these are the doomsday scenarios you conjur up with regards to anglers I can only imagine your terrifying views of jetskiers.

@@GoldenHourFishing dude I have no problems with fishing on outside of a Marina.. merely pointing out the thinking of a berthed yacht owner and if u think it's OK to hit yacht hulls with your jig heads then that tells me you are thinking like a fisherman and not like a yacht owner. As for jet skis.. yep.. worst invention of the 20th century lol. Wish you well and happy fishing!
