I loved this video so much! My father is from Guatemala and i have traveled there with him several times! if you decide to go again, go to Esquipulas! so much history behind the Iglesia del Cristo Negro! and try a carambola (a.k.a. starfruit) and ANONAS! :) may wishes to you in your future travels!

Hi Gabriel. I was sad to see that you missed the trick with San Marcos. Had you moved over there you would have met some incredible people and been able to access potentially life changing experiences. I spent six weeks there doing the moon course at Las Piramides which was life changing for me. The weekly cocoa ceremonies are also not to be missed. San Marcos is home to some very special and gifted people and is also a powerful place which brings people together in a transformative way. Go back to stay one day if you can.

these videos have been fascinating...I knew very little about Guatemala and I see it is far more "user friendly" than I had thought. I didn't realize how much they cater to the vacationer...both local and foreign of course. this little town was especially lovely as you said....very inviting little places to enjoy! thanks for providing these great views...Your videos show us exactly what it would be like to take the adventure...a real treat for us...many of us will never go...but I bet a ton of people watch these to help plan their trips!

Cathy Anderson Cool thanks Cathy. Yeah I wasn't quite sure what to expect of Guatemala myself but it's definitely exceeded expectations, amazing country. And there are lots more amazing places to see. I'm still figuring out my upcoming plans but will likely see a few more places in Guatemala before I go wherever I go next....no idea on that yet!

Gabriel Traveler oh seriously? You are still not sure! you are SO close to Costa RIca!! I adore that country...very friendly...a lot of English spoken...beautiful coast lines with TONS of birds, monkeys and more....beautiful mountains and rainforests ...they have no army!! You gotta love a country that thinks like that! They also just announced that they went 75 days for the entire country without using Fossil Fuels for power production....they are huge Environmentalist...I could go on! great food...cheap...but not as cheap as Guatemala...where ever you go though...I am sure your viewers will love! I am just a Costa RIca freak! almost moved there a few years ago but didn't. have fun!

It's definitely a possibility, in which case I would probably go overland through Honduras and Nicaragua. Costa Rica is most certainly on the travel list. But yeah, no idea at the moment what I'm doing!

yes indeed this is an amazing lake and villages! I was just reading about it on wikipedia AND it say the Surface elevation 1,562 m (5,125 ft) That mean the lake surface is almost as high elevation as Denver Colorado the mile high city! Wiki quote, It is shaped by deep surrounding escarpments and three volcanoes on its southern flank. The lake basin is volcanic in origin, filling an enormous caldera formed by an eruption 84,000 years ago.
