This was an interesting episode where I prep for the fuel cell that goes underneath the floor. It required some extra thought. You will see me encasing the fuel cell in the floor and in between stringers. We are getting closer to the engine mount, so stay tuned.

Honestly I’ve been sitting on my phone for the last 8 hours. I watched this from the start. I’m about to start ripping out the floor on mine and redoing the stringers and making some room for an underfloor tank is really stressing me out. I’ve fiberglassed before but I’ve never attempted doing stringers. Very helpful video though

FishingFrenzy Before you start, go on Amazon/eBay and purchase a full face mask with filters-3M or MSA brands are the only brands I’m going to recommend. Purchase an extra set of filters. Replace them after you have used the mask with the grinder for more than 12 hours. The rule with grinding is it takes 24 whole hours on boats 18-22 feet long. That includes bow to stern. Reminder to use only stainless steel fasteners to include staples and nails. Also don’t use any wood that isn’t marine grade. No exterior treated wood either-it doesn’t count. I know the prices for Aquatek/Hydrotek/Joubert are expensive, but if you don’t buy a marine grade labeled product, all your handwork will be for nothing. Michael Romer your a legend thanks heaps mate. I definitely will buy some new filters for the mask. I had one from the last project where I only replaced the floor.. no stringers work. But this one will be a big job so I’m going to need all the help I can get. Thanks for the quick response and the recommendations

1: Doesn't matter if the tank is level", it won't be level on the trailer or in the water. Also, the only time you know for certain what your fuel quantity on board is, is when the tank is "full" (at the gas pump). 2: The lack of ventilation around that aluminum tank can lead to serious corrosion issues in very short order. Use plastic. 3: Don't lay one-by's flat and expect to get a straight edge... 4: Fuel cells and fuel tanks are not the same thing though both store fuel. 5: Good luck.

Is 1/2" p'wood over the fuel tank going to provide enough strength for one or more folks standing on it? It's hard for me to tell from the video what the dimensions are.

There’s a bench over 1/2 of fuel tank and the other half is top coated with Kevlar. I’ve jumped around in that area for years since I’ve finished this project-zero issues.
