Hi from New Zealand. Thanks for your video. I had the dreaded 2 beeps not long after we purchased or 2010 mercruiser 5.7 Horizon. I found the drive oil to be low and toped it up. Problem solved. I'll be checking my IAC valve and muffler before summer. Cheers

Seems like my drive oil was different. It has been a few years since I got that one, but i thought it was like a longer and more frequent (angry!) beep. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your summer!

@@budgetprojectsbydavid5263 yes it worked for me, I think the muffler came out because I found it on top of the throttle plate. I didn’t want to take any chances on troubleshooting the iac valve so I put a new one in along with a new muffler. Smooth and quiet now. Thanks!

That’s great! I’m curious to know if you used OEM parts or if you got the Ford Windstar IAC valve from your local parts store?

I’m hoping this is the fix I need for mine. Starts up cold just fine but once it’s warmed up I have to put it in neutral and pump the throttle to get it started back up.

I hope so too. I had an impeller go out on me this weekend. So glad i had barely made it out of the marina when the long single beep of death shut me down. My temp usually runs at 140 and it was at 200. So, don’t be a dummy like me and make sure to change your impeller often!

Hello David! Great video! I have a 2011 6.2 L. engine in my boat that is having idle problems (low idle) and have been looking for a video that shows how to replace the IAC. All the previous videos show the procedure on the older models that use the 35-863829 muffler. Yours is the first video that showed the replacement on a newer model. When you took off the IAC on your boat the gasket remained in place without tearing and you just installed the new IAC without replacing the gasket. My mechanic told me to buy a new IAC and the adaptor that the muffler sits in because the gasket is not sold separately. I am hoping that my old IAC comes off without tearing the gasket. Could you tell me the year of your boat and how many hours you have on your engine. I am hoping that I can install a new IAC only. The new adaptor looks to be an additional $100.00. Again, thank you for the help!!
@budgetprojectsbydavid52632 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, thanks for reaching out! Glad to help! I hope your gasket comes off easy. I don’t remember mine being an issue. The boat is a 2007 that we purchased in 2015. No hour meter, though, and i have never connected it to the device that tells you the hours.

Great video! I have the same motor with a Bravo 3 and I'm having an issue where it drops RPM and then catches when going into forward or reverse. The dealer is telling me it's normal and the computer is controlling it like a shift interrupt switch would on an alpha. Do you happen to have any video of yours going into forward and reverse to see if it's normal?

Eeeeee, i’m trying to think. I don’t believe i do, but that doesn’t sound like something mine does.

Here is a link to a video of what mine is doing when going into gear. The dealer swears this is normal but I've never had one do this, but mostly have been a Volvo guy. Also not sure why it came from a different account on my PC, so sorry about that! Also thanks for your time! kzbin.infof-0JnqBha18?feature=shared

Would this cause reduced power? I have the hard start issue. My beeps seem to be about 2 minutes apart. Is the length between beeps a different fault? After warming up my boat actually starts fine. My vessel view is showing no fault?
@budgetprojectsbydavid52632 жыл бұрын
I think it could cause the system to intentionally reduce power to 80% or something like that. Two beeps per minute is a soft engine error and is the exact error i was getting when the rectangular iac muffler (foam filter) on the base of the iac valve’s mount was clogged. I changed that filter and my problems went away immediately. It’s just a small rectangular piece of foam, but it set me back $20 on Amazon. I’ll see if i can find the link.
Check the oil pressure switch. I had that issue and replaced the iac valve which improved but every now and then I had a hard start issue and turned to be the oil pressure switch that giving wrong readings to the ecu which was turning off the fuel pump.

Good to know! Thanks for the advice! Fortunately, we haven’t had the issue come back, but will keep that in mind if/when we do!

Hello thanks for this video. Would this change the rpms of the engine. My engine looks the same as yours 5.0 mpi. And is running at really low rpms at idle. Around 500. Can't see where to adjust idle. But I'm going to check these filters thanks
@budgetprojectsbydavid52633 жыл бұрын
I think it should smooth out a rough idle. If it’s electronically fuel injected, I don’t think you have any control over the idle rpm. The computer manages that for you based on sensors such as the IAC valve/sensor.

@@budgetprojectsbydavid5263 to start, I put 2 new foam “muffler” in both engines. These are the little foam air filters that sit in the back of the flame arrestor/air filter. Are you telling me a bad IAC will cause a no crank condition if its in a Marine application? I used to be an automotive tech and never had a IAC cause a no crank condition or did I misunderstand you?
@budgetprojectsbydavid5263 Жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I’m telling you. You could crank the engine, but only by pushing the button to disengage transmission. The double beep could happen at any time and once I changed the IAC, the problem went away.

@@budgetprojectsbydavid5263 I wish these engineers had this shoved up their a##. Good God who thinks up this shit anyway. Dude out in BFE boat take a shit wont crank because of a bad IAC and he is stranded. I would never know about this I would be stranded . That is up there with the newer Dodge trucks if the voltage drops bellow 12 volts the engine wont crank / I saw that on a recovery video they went out and it would not crank he put a jump pack on it got the voltage up and it cranked over and started and he was out in the boonies miles from civilization Give me a 650 CFM Holley and points and condenser they can take all this new sh %% and shove it @ Go Old school all the way !

Preach, brother! I have a ‘53 Willys M38A1 that was built with simple systems and redundancies like double serpentine belts. I like the points, condenser, and 1 barrel Carter carburetor. The fuel pump is mechanical, but it seems to work just fine even though it’s 70 years old. If it’s not running, you can usually figure out why rather quickly. Contrast that with my daily driver 2007 LX470. One knock sensor starts acting up and the car goes into limp mode. To test and replace the sensor, you have to remove the intake manifold. Not something you would want to deal with on the trail or out in BFE. Crazy!
