Very informative video. This helped out a whole lot on what needs to be done before, during, and after the fresh and saltwater trips. Thanks for taking time to make this video.

Great info. Truly helps in our boat buying decisions since we have access to both fresh water and salt water. The fresh water purchase appears to a better purchase for us. Thanks!

What does a stainless steel fuel water separator have to do with salt water? I don't get it.

So you have an aluminum hull and use aluminum anode? That’s not going to do a thing.

So you need to paint the pontoons if you keep your boat on a lift also, do you have to wash them after each salt water use?
@jmpersonal2402 Жыл бұрын
You need to seal the aluminum, a clear coating keeps the Oxygen from touching the metal and creating aluminum dioxide. The best and easiest to use is to coat with Nyalic, it is made in Atlanta, Georgia. It dries clear and sets hard on the surface. We saw it in Australia, they use it for coating trailer boats and toons. Some really big charter boats and ferries use it as well.

Does having a polypropylene pontoon tube fix the corrosion problem

So glad I found this video. I learned so much from watching. I have been having big problems with the drain plug Bosses on the rear of the outer toons on my 22 ft G3. Just corroding away. They are only inches away from the anodes. I tried zink and aluminum. This is happening while it is on the trailer. I heard you say brass as a second metal. The drain plugs are brass. What do you think about removing the brass and replacing them with plastic screw in plugs. Also I added a nice transducer last year and the electolices covered the ducer and the wires up to the top of the toon. I just checked and the little washers on the ducer are Stainless. Would changing them to aluminum stop that? Thank you again for the great videos and the time you take to help others.

Stainless steel, not steal. Good video, second the warning about leaving stern drives in saltwater. Outboards in saltwater are ok as they will tilt completely out of the water.

Can a saltwater pontoon go in freshwater (or the opposite) ? What are the problems or dangers with that ? I would like to know because I live in Geneva near the lake but I wanted to put the boat also in the sea in Greece.

I have had a Yamaha jet bait in the past that I used in saltwater. I am now getting a pontoon boat and want to use it for the day in harbors and back bays, which are salt water. Do you think I need to worry about the anodes or will super detailed cleaning be sufficient?
