I see you have a Corian or some other solid surface countertop. If you have Heat (gas line antifreeze) or alcohol of any kind, not that kind, it will work on silicon. Windex also works, but has to soak awhile. Any oozing silicon can also be handled with windex. Just spritz liberally and wipe with your finger. Scratches will sand out with a green scotch brite pad. Love your adventures. I got concerned when your rope handlers didn’t have on life jackets on the bow going through the locks. I have had lockmasters yell at me to put on life jacket. Happy voyages!

I work in maintenance and, in the States anyway, we have a Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) system to prevent all types of energy from reaching the machine we’re working on. For instance, we will shut and lock an air supply valve to keep anybody from opening it and moving the parts of the machine while we’re working on it. I doubt if Barry’s LOTO (Look Out/Taped Over) method would work for us. LOL

We were in Panama for a year about 18 years ago. The climate played havoc with our electrical system and we tried to leave a few times. Eventually escaped. One boat got struck by lightning, cost them $50k to fix and then they got hit again !!! Not sure that I like that place very much. Hope you can leave sometime. I like your sense of humour.

Owning a sailboat definitely requires a wide variety of skills. Sailing and seamanship of course, but also electric, motor diagnostics and so on and so forth. That's the reason I could never own a gasoline or diesel engine... they hate me. I swear they do. I think you're doing amazing. You're living your life free, the way you like, and you're showing the bad with the good, unlike many other sailing channels. Your ship is afloat, that's the most important part :)

Ohm's law formula. The resistor's current I in amps (A) is equal to the resistor's voltage V in volts (V) divided by the resistance R in ohms (Ω): V is the voltage drop of the resistor, measured in Volts (V).
@AdventuresofanoldSeadog6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info but I still don't understand! Not good at that sort of thing.
@va7dgp6 жыл бұрын
www.dummies.com/programming/electronics/components/electronics-measurement-ohms-law/ The term Ohm’s law refers to one of the fundamental relationships found in electronic circuits: that, for a given resistance, current is directly proportional to voltage. In other words, if you increase the voltage through a circuit whose resistance is fixed, the current goes up. If you decrease the voltage, the current goes down. Ohm’s law expresses this relationship as a simple mathematical formula: image0.jpg In this formula, V stands for voltage (in volts), I stands for current (in amperes), and R stands for resistance (in ohms). Here’s an example of how to calculate voltage in a circuit with a lamp powered by the two AA cells. Suppose you already know that the resistance of the lamp is 12 Ω, and the current flowing through the lamp is 250 mA, which is the same as 0.25 A. Then, you can calculate the voltage as follows: Ohm’s law is incredibly useful because it lets you calculate an unknown voltage, current, or resistance. In short, if you know two of these three quantities you can calculate the third. Go back (if you dare) to your high-school algebra class and remember that you can rearrange the terms in a simple formula such as Ohm’s law to create other equivalent formulas. In particular: image1.jpg If you don’t know the voltage, you can calculate it by multiplying the current by the resistance. image2.jpg If you don’t know the current, you can calculate it by dividing the voltage by the resistance. image3.jpg If you don’t know the resistance, you can calculate it by dividing the voltage by the current. To convince yourself that these formulas work, look again at the circuit with a lamp that has 12 Ω of resistance connected to two AA batteries for a total voltage of 3 V. Then you can calculate the current flowing through the lamp as follows: image4.jpg If you know the battery voltage (3 V) and the current (250 mA, which is 0.25 A), you can calculate the resistance of the lamp like this: image5.jpg Wasn’t going back to high school algebra fun? Next thing you know, you’re going to start looking for a prom date.
