You should add oars, with oars equipped you row faster. Maybe you need iron or diamonds to craft the oars, that way it not be as easy as getting some wood and just using oars all the time.

You should add the ability to make boats from blocks. Then with a lil work and imagination a player can have a row boat or Spanish galleon. Also the ability to paint step pieces.. And maybe even lights. Or make rotating things with electrics and blocks.

Things I would add to boats, in Survivalcraft, to make them cooler. 1) option to make bigger boats with/without oars 2) option to string 2 or more boats together (lead boat would "pull" the others) 3) option to place objects in / on boats (torches, crafting table, chests, etc.) One other thing I noticed is if you excavate a trench to the ocean, the water does not properly flood the trench to the same height as the ocean (regardless of what you line the trench with). Would be great to have the ability to dig a man-made canal, and make it join the ocean properly. Failing that, the ability to place blocks of water (other than with a bucket) in Creative mode would be good.
