The fear and anxiety you experienced is in equal measure to the strength you can draw from the courage and determination you showed to get through that horrible drama. Focus on the positives and put the negatives behind you. You coped, and are so strong together. 🌊💪

You both done well and got through it that's the main thing. You can never be over confident on the rivers as they can change that quick which I'm sure you both realised. Don't let it put you off its just a blip and comes with boating xx

For what it's worth, you did a great job editing this in a way that conveys how you felt in the moment. Because without being there and feeling the current and the proximity of the weir, it can be difficult to understand just how scary that situation was, but you edited it in a way that really made us feel like we were there with you. I'm glad you're all okay.

Wes & Amy, You both did an amazing job handling the boat. And I agree , this can only make you stronger. You both worked as a team. And yes after the adrenaline wears off, all those emotions you showed today were real . I am just glad that the other boat was there to help. Sending some hugs your way. 🩷🩷💙🐾🐾💙

Oh I know the feeling. I am 72 years old and sail a 20ft sailing yacht onehanded (solo). When things start to go wrong you go up on adrenalin at a terrible pace. When danger is over, you tremble all over and feel absolutely miserable. You are still in on a learning curve. It probably never ends. But at the same time you are collecting lifelasting memories. I really enjoy your vlog! Love from Denmark

Dear precious ones… I don’t always write, but I always watch… I wish I could afford to be one of your chip pals 🥰 I had to write on this one because it really touched me and in fact, I’m writing with holding back the tears… I have to tell you that this one was one of the best videos and I love all your videos. I love it when you go into the town or castle, all the Shakespeare all of those I just love these last few episodes so much… But this one because there was just something about it and then when you got to the lock like you said you did everything right. And it just showed me how much your anxiety really gets to you, but how much you really do deal with it the best you can. It’s life this is analogy, but this happened to you. You do what you need to do your flowing along and in this case engine off floating life is good. You’re just living it and going along and then it’s time to engage again, thinking at the other end, you’re gonna be OK and go through it. However, complications that are unforeseen and you have to backtrack and find a way how to deal with it and you do your best but, the situation saying no, I’m gonna fight you. But then you get a lifeline in this case it was the boat and I believe that God had that boat there for you as your lifeline and those people to help you… Bless them! And Wes are fabulous. You did the best you could in the situation like Amy said, believe you held it together, even though your mind was so muddled up you push those things back to deal with the situation that you were in… And I must say you did a bang up job. Thank you for being brave enough to share your commentary at the end and the truth to what really goes on inside your life because you guys are very positive young people I wish more people watched your show. You should have 1 million followers I mean truly, so blessings all over you just remember God is with you as you’re living this life and touching the people that you touch. Samn following you from on the Oregon Trail here in Union Oregon.

Guys I feel for you, had to navigate the Seven - just bought the boat from Worcester and was taking the boat back to Evesham - no experience, no anchor and a knackard engine. Overheated a million times, had to crash into trees to stop and moor boat - any how, ended up in A&E cos the cap to the radiator blew off and gave my face a steam bath ( I couldn’t see) I’m all good now but trauma is real with this river, so fair play to you both 🥰❤

My anxiety was through the roof watching this. My boat started to sink in Denver lock a few years ago, the lock keeper walked off and my bow got stuck on the gate. My boat started to sink at the bow and took on water right through the boat. I lost everything and thought my life was on the line too. I screamed to get the lock keeper back, it was horrendous. I left boat life a couple of months after as I never got over the stress, I still have flashbacks now. You two are amazing and show that boat life is sometimes dangerous and extremely stressful and most if it involves injuries and tears. Much love 😊

I was anxious just watching your in hindsight updates of “ if I could change one thing I’d not have sped up here” and “we should have stopped on the wall before the other boat”. Then watching you fight against the pull of the weir. However you both handled the situation and the boat like pro’s, on a bit of river you have no prior experience of. I think it’s a really good reminder to yourselves that though you struggle with the feelings of anxiety, when you were actually in the stressful moment you worked together to do what needed doing to keep your home and family safe. Having the emotions hit you afterwards is just another example of how well you worked through the stressful moment, until the danger had passed. Well done both of you.

We hired a boat last year, we do this a couple of times a decade and have been narrow boating since the 70's. But it was our first trip on the Severn, we were doing the Stourport Ring and we went against the flow which gave a bit more control than going downstream. Those locks are huge and scary, and the weirs are mad. BUT it was really worth doing, we saw more kingfishers in the time we were on the river, than I have in the rest of my entire life. And I'm so glad that we pushed ourselves to do it. I hope our kids get the narrow boating bug, it is the best.

Well done you two (& rufus) just shows how lovely the boating community is in times of great stress. You did great in the circumstances. It’s easy to reflect on what could be done differently but when you are moving a 30 ton boat against current it’s not just that simple. You simply don’t have the time to work through all the logical plans. Your instincts cut in and you succeeded. You did so well. Until you face this stuff when it goes wrong it is difficult to understand. Well done guys. Lots of love and hugs. Also rufus fully styling out the life jacket. What a star xxx ❤❤❤❤❤

It's not very often I get butterflies watching KZbin but this one had me going 😱. Wes, I think the fact you anticipated the worst and then it nearly came true just made the comedown from the adrenaline even worse. That being said though - massive well done 👏🎉👍- not only for getting through it (virtually) unscathed, but that you both held it together right until the end 🥹. I hope you treated yourself to a huge bag of chips 🍟 as a reward. Might have to treat myself to some tea and cake as my own reward for holding it together through the vlog 😅🥰

You faced your fears ...massive tick ✔️ for doing that. You stayed calm and communicated wth each other and the other narrowboaters very well ...another huge tick ✔️. I think you were lulled into a false sense of security with the trip down the river. Next time, you’ll be the couple helping and talking others through a situation. And big tick ✔️ to Rufus ... he looked very calm, and very very happy not to be wearing the “cone of shame”. The adrenaline release after any situation is very real ... and you shared that. Big tick ✔️ ✔️ for being so open and honest.

Well done you made it👍 we came out of that lock on amber warnings, there was quite a flow on ! A minute into the journey I used the revs and the engine cut out, so we frantically looked for the lock keepers number whilst looking I tried turning the engine on again…….happy days she fired up! We learn later we had fuel starvation as this happened again at lower lode lock exit by the weir again she fired up . Have to say in my 17 years of boating this was up there in the scary moments chart. Always remember you have an anchor on board and don’t be afraid to use it. Ps I’m still stuck in a flood by the Fish & Anchor I told the guy you would be down with a fiver 🍺🤣🤣🤣🤣👍

I know the feeling, i took my boat down from tewkesbury onto the severn to get onto the Gloucester and sharpness canal, bare in mind the boat had been sunk in december with bad fuel, seized engines and no eletrics. I salvaged it and sailed it down the river onto the canal, that was scary when you have no real knowledge if the engines will last the journey and no eletrics to help. I made it though. Id never moved a cruiser before only narrowboats so it was totally new to me!

Did your trip a few weeks ago, back to our home on G&S at Saul Junction. The Severn feels like a poor mans Amazon with no views! Hope to see you on G&S! NB Happy Days.

I love your raw realness. You are both inspirational the way you own your strengths and weaknesses. I know you don’t know me from Adam (or Eve!) but I am so proud of you both. You did what needed to be done and kept it together until you were safe. Big love from 🇦🇺💜 P.S. Did Rufus have to re-don the cone of shame?
