Great interview. Bob Appleyard talks of making the Yorkshire XI in 1951, but he did play at least one first class match for Yorkshire in 1950 - vs Scotland in July that year. He opened the bowling in both innings, taking 2 for 18 in ten overs and then 3 for 22 in sixteen overs. Yardley scored a century in that match and Hutton an elegant seventy nine. It's the only time I saw Appleyard, Hutton and Yardley play other than on newsreels and now on KZbin.

Wonderful interview. What a terrific man Appleyard was and especially after his traumatic experience as a youth. In the two seasons when he was fully fit, a case could be made for his being one of the great post-War bowlers. Just look at his figures!

Superb interview with a man with a deep knowledge of his craft. Particularly liked the way he sat through the interview with a ball in his hand giving such insight on how he held the ball and how other great bowlers did too.

Two very enjoyable, and informative, interviews. (I refer to the one with Tom Graveney also) I will indulge myself by looking at the other interviews with cricketers on this channel. Thanks for uploading.

Along with Les Jackson, the greatest bowler you've never heard of. Probably the best bowler to play in County Cricket in the 1950s
