Probably not the right video to be talking about this but man I miss Mark Lamarr. He used to have like four different shows on Radio 2 - God's Jukebox, the Reggae show, Alternative 60s, and something else I think. Got me through many long shifts washing up in a restaurant in my 20s.

I'm 67 and this gets much worse because a Celebrity or Comedian or Sportsman can be in your life for 60 years and then they suddenly aren't there anymore. Also, you start to lose more of them. ALL IN 18 MONTHS....since Covid started which is why they did not have individual Tributes at the time.

Rachel put on her beard-ski-mask and horned helmet and was obviously setting up for a line from Jimmy (and probably a retort from Rachel), but when Sean delivered the "challenging wank" line, Jimmy had the comedic sense to know nothing would top it and to just leave it at that. One of the things I particularly loved about that joke was the fact that Rachel, who was the object of the joke, just laughed and laughed.

Remarkable how the emotion suddenly gets to Mark from nowhere. That's what loss is like. His mind projected to his next sentence about how touching the reactions have been and that horrible reality of someone just...GONE....instantly hit him. So much has been said but I'm sooooo glad I got to see Lock's standup live and made a weekend of it, staying over in Torquay, as there were no late trains back. I did the same for Ken Dodd.....yep and he died six months later. H'mmmm. I'm sure Sean would seize the opportunity for a joke there.

@@kent2820 Maybe it's my age, but the one comedian I would profoundly have regretted not seeing in the flesh was Billy Connolly. I got the last ticket in the house at one of his gigs on one of his latter tours when his hair had gone fully grey. Lucky! As for Sean....yep I suddenly got a mission in my head a few years ago....rather than buy a ticket to see someone down the road from me, I thought "I WANNA SEE SEAN LOCK!" and no one else!! I saw his Keep It Light tour was coming within 30 miles of where I live and booked it. This is a disgusting thing to say maybe but there are comedians I have no time for whatsoever who are fighting fit, fit as a fiddle and then the ones who go prematurely happen to be the ones I like the most. Before Sean, it was Rik Mayall....I STILL can't believe that force of nature is not on the planet!!

I am truly saddened at Sean's passing away. I think he was a genius with an appeal that most comedians can only dream of aspiring to. After seeing his work over the years I was always completely drawn in by his joke-telling, and then consistenly whalloped (in a good way!) by the "out of nowhere" contrary (& always brilliantly comedic) perspective which he would drop in to form his punchline. If that wasn't enough, he would often drop in a razor sharp follow-up line on top of that! ABSOLUTE GENIUS! I will miss you. RIP.

I'm no fan of Vanessa but she was on a limited time slot, live on radio 2. She obviously had certain audio clips and points that she was told to play and ask. Also the show gave more time to Mark than they give to most of their guests. I actually think she was quite sensitive and comforting to Mark when he choked and if you listened they have a personal friendship and obviously like each other. I doubt Mark thought she was cutting him off but understood she was doing the best she could in a limited time slot within the parameters set by Jeremy Vine show management team.
