Looking back on this after his GLORIOUS VICTORY at the BCC and being the FIRST grand slam winner, I can say AP was just weak and working under his potential for whatever reason at Travers. I know the loss shook us all up and made us question him, but now go back and look at the footage for the Breeder's Cup Classic.... He whipped ALL those horses SOUNDLY. He won by 6 1/2 lengths, and left Keen Ice in the DUST.

Win or lose at the Travers, American Pharoah remains a Triple Crown Champion. It would be amazing to see him race at the Breeders Cup in October! #Pharoahtoga loves this boy!!!!!

When American Pharaoh rests and comes back to California healthy and strong he can still go into the Classic and race the way American Pharaoh usually races then he can win the Classic but he just need the rest and hopefully he will be a hundred percent and In my opinion he should not retire

I am very sad he was sold after the Preakness to a stud farm in Ireland. Clearly he loves attention. He is sweet, gentle and is a people horse. He should stay here, where there are so many of his fans to visit him and show how much we love him. He's an Angel win or lose (and the Angel part never loses!)

+sparklingmichele The ONLY thing that was sold was the breeding rights. He's still owned by Zayat which means he still has a say in which mares are covered by AP.

+KiyiyaHowlingWolf He sold the breeding rights for somewhere above $40 million dollars.

+sparklingmichele The farm he is going to is in Lexington, so he still will be in the U.S.

+sparklingmichele where did you read AP was going to Ireland?? LOL Right after the Preakness, Zayat did an interview saying he sold AP to Coolmoore,Ky but he still owned AP until the end of this year. Then as of Jan 1, 2016 AP is owned by the stud farm he'll be going to. He's staying in Kentucky to breed.
@RedBev599 жыл бұрын
+sparklingmichele $40 million???? Where are you getting your info from??? LOL Zayat sold AP BEFORE he even won the Triple Crown. NO way was AP worth THAT much at that time. NOR is he at this time either. Be serious. Zayat should have waited to sell him. BUT if he didn't win the Crown, his stud fee and his price wouldn't be so much.

I'm amazed that no one has noticed this but AP is JUST like his grandsire Big Red aka Secretariat. BOTH won the TC and BOTH lost the Travers. However, there's no records of Big Red being entered in the Breeder's Cup so we'll see. I think in this race, he was just worn out. You can tell he's not running like his normal self because let's face it, he was up against worst competition than this in the TC and he shook them off easily enough. In this race, I think he was simply too tired. And you can see it in his eyes, that he's worn out. So a long rest will do him good. To those who are screaming "NO HE'S BEEN SOLD!" It's ONLY the breeding rights, Zayat still owns AP and still has a say in which mares are covered. This has been a private affair that was made public for a reason (apparently some are dumb enough to believe everything they hear). Just like Big Red, the breeding rights were sold, however, were bought back after 4 years of breeding overseas, the chances of this trend happening with AP are high (I think Zayat has noticed the Big Red in AP more than some) and is following that trend to maintain his horse better. All in great try big boy!

+KiyiyaHowlingWolf American Pharoah’s sire is Pioneerof the Nile, who finished second in the 2009 Kentucky Derby. His grandsire is Empire Maker, the 2003 Belmont winner and Derby runner-up. Empire Maker’s father was 1990 Derby winning-champion Unbridled. American Pharoah’s dam, Littleprincessemma, is a daughter of stakes-winning sprinters Yankee Gentleman and Exclusive Rosette. He was foaled on February 2, 2012. The 2015 Derby winner has serious pedigree. And Secretariat was never in the travers.

Scott Biladeau Um dude, I know this horse's pedigree better than you think I do and considering he has Big Red on there, that says plenty about what you do NOT know for actually MISSING that factor. Kindly don't preach to a horse woman who knows her basis.

Big Red did NOT run in the travers.

Scott Biladeau No shit sherlock....it's called a mistake.....however AP DOES have Big Red on his pedigree along with some Canadian stock as well. Sorry hunny, I know my pedigrees.

He only lost because he was tired from the workout he was put through the day before. Bob admitted that he ran faster than they'd planned. Whoever rode him ran him too hard. I'll bet Keen Ice would have run last if he'd gone through the same workout AP did the day before!! You never breeze a horse the day before a big race.

In retrospect Pharoah should have gone Belmont-Travers-Breeders Cup Classic (and skipped the Haskell).
