Not sure how this appeared in my recommendations, but I'm happy it did! Shows like Hogan's Heroes, McHale's Navy, Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, etc., were good, clean, original and well written comedy. Nothing like the crap that Hollywood and others are trying to pass as comedy. I also miss the great variety shows like Red Skelton's, Dean Martin's, Bob Hope's, Carole Burnett's and others. Back when TV had some quality to it. Now ... just trash.

After Hogan's, Crane performed in a few Disney movies but mostly in dinner theaters. In the early 1970's my aunt went to see him at a "Kenley Players" performance in the mid west. She was able to meet Bob and asked for an autograph. My aunt had no paper, but she did have a $2.00 bill.(the old red seal type) He signed it. Legend has it that two dollar bills are bad luck and Bob sure had bad luck. Years ago she pulled out the bill and showed me. true story.

@Heimie Bellheim Mostly because of the constant continuity errors, some of them massive and right from the start. Perhaps the biggest, season one, in order to hide gold from the nazis, they paint the bricks red and build Klink a new set of stairs coming out of his office. Very next episode, the brick (gold) stairs are gone and the wood ones are back.

@cmm2145
@cmm2145 4 жыл бұрын
Steve Sausen - I didn’t know about it at the time, but found out years later. It’s upsetting to me too that not only was he murdered, but in such a brutal fashion. I believe it was about his sex addiction and I believe that the killer was his “friend” John somebody. They tried him twice, but never got a conviction. Now he’s dead too. I think I remember that Bob was tired of having John tag along when he was hunting for the ladies. Bob was the draw. He was who the ladies wanted. Bob would get first pick and John got the leftovers. But when Bob decided that he was not going to take John hunting with him, John knew it was pretty much the end of the road for him because he was neither good looking or famous so he was going to have a very difficult time scoring the chicks without Bob. So John was mad. After Bob was asleep, John came back to the apartment and bludgeoned Bob to death with a tripod. Bob’s blood was found in John’s car, but apparently that wasn’t enough evidence. Tragic.
@vote4bobcrane
@vote4bobcrane 4 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, Bob wasn't cutting John Carpenter off because he didn't want him to go out "hunting" with him anymore. He was doing this because he was trying to turn his life around. He had been talking with a counselor about his sexual addiction, and he was very clear about wanting to change. His counselor had explained to him that when battling an addiction, a very important and early step in the process is to do "surgery" - to cut out the enablers, the people who were part of that particular lifestyle with you (this is true for alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, or any addiction). Carpenter was an enabler, and if Bob was going to succeed, Carpenter and others like him in Bob's life had to go. The reason Bob gave his counselor for wanting to change was that he wanted to be a better father to his children, all of whom he loved and adored (and they loved him), and he felt he was lacking as a father because of his sexual addiction.
@cmm2145
@cmm2145 4 жыл бұрын
Bob Crane: Life & Legacy -. Thanks for clarifying that for me. I knew he was cutting John off. I just didn’t remember why. But I have read what you said before. I knew he was trying to get help with his sex addiction before he died, which I find admirable. He was doing the right thing, he just didn’t get to finish because John...ahem, somebody, killed him before he could complete what he was doing. It all makes sense. I know that one of the first things you do when battling addiction is to cut yourself off from your addiction buddies and enablers and you stop going to any places where you could go to fuel your addiction. I certainly hope Bob is resting in peace. I’ve liked him ever since I started watching Hogan’s Heroes reruns when I was a teenager. It seems to me that he was a decent guy except for that one thing. We’re all human. Everyone has good and bad. Of course, I don’t know for sure because I never knew him. I just hate that he left us so soon and I hate the way he left us. I’m convinced that John Carpenter was the one who killed Bob. The fact that he was tried twice and never convicted doesn’t change my mind in the least.

This has nothing to do with talent but a trivial matter I have read before..... Both John Banner and Red Skelton are listed in height as 6'2"! Yet Bob Crane is listed as 5'10"! Look at them together and he comes up to them more like he was about 6 foot. Correct me if I'm wrong but others listed as 5'10" standing next to Bob Crane are shorter. This is my hobby of sorts to determine the true height of actors and actresses. Quirky I know, but true!
@vote4bobcrane
@vote4bobcrane 8 жыл бұрын
+tophat You are absolutely correct. The report of Bob being only 5'10" is incorrect. His driver's license has him at 6'0", and his paperwork for the National Guard when he served in the late 1940s also has him listed as 6'0". As a fun trivia tidbit, he even says he's six feet in Hogan's Heroes, saying to Colonel Klink, "You can't find a five-foot corporal. What makes you think you could find a six-foot colonel?" I don't know where and when the 5'10" was first recorded as his height, although I suspect in Auto Focus or The Murder of Bob Crane. But it is wrong.

+Vote For Bob Crane I remember that line on Hogan's Heroes when finding Lebeau. In any case, it's one of those hobbies I look at. I look at the heights of stars, and see where the errors are. But I see for a 5'10" guy, he comes up well to two 6'2" guys and have to think otherwise. Thanks for setting the record!
