The power is within me. It’s my job to clear away the things that block me from me !

John Mc G. Yes, tnanks. The misconception of using one's sponsor's guidance as though the sponsor was God or your higher power is dangerous. At best the sponsor receives guidance from above, but very often quite sick still, and I have certainly being very harmed by them, and they haven't even made amends to me. Sponsors shouldn't be followed autómatically thoughtlessly detached from one's inner wisdom voice, (Higher power), although it is not easily accessible and established from the beginning. I am stressed and troubled at the negative changes in the practise of AA today, where ppl equal God to HigherPower, and the group and the sponsor too. This makes us fall into new dependence: of the program, group and sponsor, instead of on one's inner Higher power, co-working with the Creator. Ppl claim to sponsor after the BB, but mostly don't practise Ch. 7 . Upon my questioning of it, they look blank and don't know what I am on about , and don't know Ch 7. I have been in the program 20 years being abused by sponsors and not well sponsored and not getting through the steps. Ppl don't really have God's power often, what they have is the pre-parts, the 1st stage of it, meaning grounding, constructive focus and better use of one's resources, time.I so need a real sponsor with God's power, who sponsors starting at step 0, as I call it: Helping with getting some sleep, food, regular habits by being let to stay at their home or by someone other who has some room and quality time, who has dome some emotional healing. (staying with immature kind members doesn't do the trick of course). Or a sponsor who does what it says in the BB, 2 sponsors who spoke to the judge about helping the inmate, having the court postpone the verdict/imprisonment. For me it is not ordinary prison, but worse, and they haven't even written/phoned professional helpers and abusive au-thorities for me, OR built me up enough to get strength to speak for myself. Did you get good quality sponsoring, or find that out yourself? - Be well. This lecturer speaks the good words /truths.

@@Medietos so, I think its a good idea to start your own Big book meeting! That's what we did here! I couldn't stand the way they do sponsorship here. We become dependent on HP NOT PEOPLE!

@@Dainty_Dani Thank you dear. I have thought about starting a group, with meditation, for years. But I am on my own, and in Sweden, one has to be at least 2 to start a group. And I am too sick an d exhausted to dare to take on all responsibility, am homeless and jobless as well, not stable enough really. And also, the swedish have got, I believe, even more secular / unspiritually oriented by the masisive high border value of the mic. Row ave ra. Diation that our country gets ra diated with. I also have Aspergers and am not relaxed and easy-going with people in my present challenging taxing situation. And I realize, I haven't done the bets work myself, I really know the theory and should maybe manage to work the program on my own,. But I haven't got a night's sleep since -97 and am being abused by professionals, withheld health care and asistence, and am quite exhaustion-depressed (severely burnt out). I think I have to come to terms withhow things are, practise my steps better, do better self-care, and then I might attract soulmates later. If I live then. And If we all do. Blessings to you.

The promises are after the ninth step. When it says "if we are painstaking about this phase.." This phase is the ninth step. You will get none of that by " don't drink and go to meetings "

WoW 🤩 I believe the Promises come true after I clear away the wreckage of my past by taking step 9 which means making Amends. I have 5 Amends to make on a list of 33 and at 6 years sobriety, by the Grace of God the 12 steps and AA 💟 I want to keep on keeping on. Thank You 🙏

@@monicaramirez51015 it has been amazing to me how making direct amends has changed things that don't even seem related. Glad the program is working for you as well

it's individual. I do use the steps but after doing them all 2xs the 1st step is what did for me, for it wasnt from the heart although the unimaginable pain I was suffering from daily heavy addiction from 16-26 been off substances 20 years, gave back all my chips and am 6 months on the right track? for 20 years I was on the wrong track Bob D changed that for me. I can be 1 day sober and feeling this that its fine by me. Time means nothing, 20 years meant nothing for not using is easy, allowing G'd is even simpler and a way greater freedom and peace of mind, spirit and a high no substance can give you, only G'd

I've heard this from other women. They had COMPLETED there amends. I don't think that word means what they think it does. If you ever complete your amends you aren't doing it right
