I'm from Bob Dylan's early days and love his work still. When my precious daughter was dying with cancer (47) she would ask me to hold her and that is one of my most poignant memories. We'd lie on the sofa, her thin body in my arms and listen to Bob Dylan and opera too (she sang opera folk and some rock) for hours. I was privileged to care for her in her last year on earth. She was learning to play Hard Rain is Gonna Fall on the guitar and she had a beautiful voice. All the best of the Season to all, ♥️

This comment has so few likes, as there are so few of us that have watched a senseless disease take someone who brought us the warmth of the Sun on our faces....and have the God-damned courage to share it with the others who grovel in their ignorance of such a beautiful and ugly experience. I lived through the ugliness, yet 36 years later, I relish in the beauty of those last memories.

When this song first came out we knew it was prophetic but didn't know then that it was to be literally true. Hard rains are falling everywhere, There is no techno fix for this one. We must repent of our greed, our drive to control everything and take our rightful place as dependent children in the beneficent house of the earth mother.

I never thought that Zimmerman deserved a nobel prize, but this song comes close to justifying it. If the lyics seem incoherent, still you know what he's saying. the stucture of the song was more advanced than most all songs of the 20th century. although you can find in ancient English lit., similar structure. the tragedy was not just that he was handed over the prize. but that americans heard it and didn't do enough about what zimmerman was warning us about.
