Lyrics:
Buckets of rain
Buckets of tears
Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears
Buckets of moonbeams in my hand
You got all the love
Honey baby, I can stand
I've been meek
And hard like an oak
I've seen pretty people disappear like smoke
Friends will arrive, friends will disappear
If you want me
Honey baby, I'll be here
I like your smile
And your fingertips
Like the way that you move your hips
I like the cool way you look at me
Everything about you is bringing me misery
Little red wagon
Little red bike
I ain't no monkey but I know what I like
I like the way you love me strong and slow
I'm takin' you with me
Honey baby, when I go
Life is sad
Life is a bust
All ya can do is do what you must
You do what you must do and ya do it well
I'll do it for you
Honey baby, can't you tell?

All right, Libby. You have piqued my curiosity. How did you happen to be studying in Paris and living on “La rue Saint Dominique?” I had the great good fortune of being part of the Rutgers Junior Year Abroad Program during 1976-77. The main part of the program was in Tours, (Loire Valley) but we spent the first six weeks in Paris. Our “dorm” was was on Rue Cabanis, 14eme Arrondissement, Metro “Glaciere.” Perhaps not surprisingly, I didn’t appreciate it as much as I should have. Another case of “youth is wasted on the young.” I am curious to how you came to be where you were in Paris, your experiences and thoughts about it. I’d welcome a note from you. Wishing good things to you and hoping to hear from you “bientot.” Salut…Jim

I love Bob Dylan. He is a hero of the human condition. He "saved"me with his words when I was but a young teenaged girl struggling to understand the world we live in. All these 50 years later I fear the world is mired in squabbles and power struggles between the "elite" that will never end, leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves together however best we can, even as they try to tear is apart. His songs, even this one, maybe especially this one, as personal as it is intended to be, give me the strength to continue living in hope there will be a brighter day for humankind.

I never truly understood the meaning of this line. Then one day, I met a girl and we fell for each other, head over heels. It must have been December or January, definitely a cold winter morning, but I woke up and she was looking at me. Not just looking at me, but really LOOKING. If you've ever been in love, you know what I mean. Then, all of a sudden, she started crying. I didn't know what to say, started to console her, but she just took my hand, kissed me and smiled, cheeks lined with tears. When you really love someone, it can make you feel physically ill. But it's worth it.

I am now 31 years old, and with every more year, it seems I grow more sensitive, to those wonderfully written and sung words by him. "And every one of them words rang true And glowed like burning coal Pouring off of every page Like it was written in my soul, from me to you Tangled up in blue" There is nothing compareable in todays world of music And I feel so blessed, for getting to know his music. For it helps me so much . To laugh, to cry, no matter, on what side of the emotional track. But than again: "People tell me it's a sin To know and feel too much within"

Minha cidade tinha 2 lojas pequenas que vendiam vinil. De aniversário, pedi um disco para minha avó. Ela me deu o dinheiro e fui procurar um do Bob Dylan. Encontrei apenas este, por sorte. A música que mais gostava era esta, apesar de não compreender a letra, adorei a melodia e sabia que "rain" era chuva.

The syncopation is so rhythmic, yet at times off beat, it tends to become a part of who we are when combined with the words. With only six chords and simple lyrics, one would think it rudimentary, however with good picking it develops a depth of complexity, and has small surprises musically and lyrically.

Dear Mr Zimmerman. Thank you for all the music you gave us. Having been born in 1959, I am fortunate enough to have been around your gift my entire life. As I am the youngest in my family, I was exposed to you early on. I have seen you on tour several times. The last time I must admit was terribly disappointing, not withstanding, you are a gift to all like DaVinci, Picasso, and Mozart. May HaShem bless you for what you have bestowed to all.
