To all those who go down the cliched road of saying "Dylan can't sing" - Utter garbage, his voice is beautiful here, amongst many other examples of how great an actual singer he is.
@ManWithAName4252 жыл бұрын
Musicians in studios these days go to great effort (i.e. autotune) in order to make the melody unblemished while their musical framework and ideas are garbage. Dylan, I feel, was just not primarily focused on articulating vocal melody because the songs were so complete lyrically and structurally that maybe sounding like a melodic angel was just boring to him. The "Dylan can't sing" argument I hear a lot from friends. It's not just saying "Dylan can't sing", but it implies the guy is overrated and not a quality musician. It's kind of like saying Van Gogh's brush strokes were too broad and not adequately articulate, therefore he sucks. I agree with you John, this clip is an informative glimpse that disproves that myth.

Jakob Dylan gave an interview to Rolling Stone magazine in 1997 when Time out of Mind came out. The interviewer avoided discussing Jakob's famous dad through most of the interview, but at the end he brought up "This new kid, Bob Dylan, who has a new album, Time out of Mind...what's your take on him?" "His future's bright," Jakob said.

As most of the other comments express this is indeed an unreleased gem. This is the first time i have heard this song and i have been a Bob fanatic for 30 plus years. What makes it a bit extra special for me is that it was played in my home city of Glasgow 8 years to the day before i was born. I seen Bob on Halloween night last year in Glasgow and he is 81 now and still touring the world and allowing us to bask in his magic. That Glasgow performance was 54 years ago!!!!! I'm saving up just now to be able to follow him on the last 6 months of the RARW tour because he is in his twighlight years now and i want to see as much of him as possible before he leaves us; a day i am dreading. There has been nobody else in my life whom i have not known personally who means so much to me. He means more than some of the people i have known all my life. The world will be a poorer place for the loss. I know you guys all feel the same. We have been lucky to be around at the same time as this man. God bless x

His harmonica is mystical and magical. A meaningful song is like medicine for the body ,mind and soul. Good meaningful songs are like light in the world, they are meant to sing out loud individually or collectively; that can clear away all our negative thoughts and emotions in our disturbed mind. Happy listening, singing and sharing with other. God bless you. Dylan understands the formula of peace - Prince/ ambassador of Peace. Have you heard them ? 1. Do you Hear what I hear? ( Christmas in the Heart) .Listen to what I say. Pray for peace people everywhere... 2. Ring Them Bells Sarah Jarosz - Ring Them Bells (Transatlantic sessions) @Marco Regali ...Oh, the shepherd is asleep where the willows weep. And the mountains are filled with lost sheep.... Ring the bell for the blind and deaf....

Its hard to understand how much Dylans music has had on me since the first time I heard Like A Rolling Stone as it came flowing from the radio in 65. Some always say it was the Beatles that put a guitar in their hands, for me it was just as much Dylan too. My wife and I went to see him playing in Indy in 1988. When we got back home to our little town of Fairmount Indiana Dylan was there in a coachliner with family and friends to visit the hometown of James Dean. It was good to meet the man I have so admired. l

Where she leads me i do not know Well she leads me where she go I can't find her nowhere. And when she comes my way I'll just be there standin' any night and day I will hear her say that i don't really try I tried, also cried But i cant leave her behind. (then replay of "verses" 2 and 3) North British Station hotel, Glasgow UK - 19.may.1966 SWINGIN' PIG restaured audio version (youtube june 16, 2021) ... and i just can't wait for you i can't just ... i ... my discontent And i walk, where she leads me i do not know Well she leads me where she goes I can't find it no way Whenever she comes by It makes me hurt to see her cry ... I just can't ride But i can't say some ... But i can't leave with her behind. Like you might think it's foolish to be ... this way that i can't say to her And you might think it's ugly To go back and not to ride/rally But i can't hide, you don't know what it does to me Well, she needs me how All her way i just can't hear her walk I just can't hear her talk But sometimes you know you will. And when she comes my way I'll just be there stayin' any night or day I will fear her say to you that i don't really try I tried, also cried But i can't leave her behind. ... Any time that i'm on my way I just talk to hear me stay ... pretend to mind here too What else i should have found If i don't make it and you do I swear to you that if you don't cry Try to ride besides ... it took behind. But she hear you walk back when i was young ... you anything but i ... say not she's the one And she's still gone And when i hear from you more than i heard from anyone All my herd ? ... I just rode I swear i trade to you This whole wide world is your own ... But i can't help you but i try to tell to you That i just can't ... leave her behind. Lyrics as performed by Stephen Malkmus and Lee Ranaldo on "I'm Not There" soundtrack Where she leads me i do not know Well, she leads me where she go I can't find her nowhere Well, she needs me here All aware i can't hear her walk I just cannot hear her talk Though sometimes, you know you will And when she comes my way I'll just be left any night or day I will hear her say that i don't wanna try I tried, also cried But i can't leave her behind.

A minute of this song (different version) was in the Scorsese documentary No Direction Home, with Robbie Robertson. When I first saw ETD 20 years ago now on a VHS tape lol, I was totally transfixed on the sideline singing clips they did, this "song" most importantly. I always wished they did a full version on one of the albums, seems it would have been a better album ender than sad eyed lady, a song I never really cared for. I honestly think the melody they are working with here shows influence of Beatles songs and that makes a lot of sense given the time and place.
