Bob Dylan regresaba a los escenarios en el concierto a beneficio de Bangladesh que había organizado George Harrison, en el Madison Square Garden. En esta canción fue acompañado por el mismo Harrison y por Leon Russel.

Believe it or not, Dylan was nervous as hell about this appearance to the point where he wasn't sure he was going to go on stage. This was the first song, and you can hear the nervousness, and you can hear him slowly get over it when the crowd just loved that he was there! So, there was a time when Bob Dylan wasn't sure if he still fit into this rock world. He needn't worry, he was still the leader.
@dondamon46692 жыл бұрын
Dylan for sure wasn’t nervous fgs! He was just trying to make Leon feel relaxed and George even more so! Dylan never felt nervous he felt Godlike! Being Dylan was Godlike!
@42awww2 жыл бұрын
@@dondamon4669 But he was according to Robert Sheldon, Bob's official biographer. It was only during the first verse or so of JUST LIKE A WOMAN that the crowd went wild and in the next verse you can hear Bob coming out. Sure he is the most important artist of the 20th century, but he had only done one lame concert in 4 years, at the ISLE of White. George wasn't sure he would show up.

Immediately I collected all his earlier LPs and carried through the rest - Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and the masterpiece Blonde on Blonde, with the gem that is Just Like A Woman. Leon Russell was a session musician who had a few years in the limelight. No big talent. What turns me off to the music is the uncritical "If it's rock, then it's automagically genius, and anyone who happened to be in the room with [fill in the blank] is a genius and more talented than all the others who are greater talents than all the others who have no superior," blah-blah-blah. You mean "Leon" was driven by EGO!? As for the "motorcycle accident": see the part of "Don't Look Back" where Dylan, rocking back and forth, talks about being killed in a plane crash -- a paranoid hallucination. During the tour he was overamping on amphetamine. Did he have an accident -- or was that how he quit the tour in a way that his manager couldn't refute? In a later song about Sara, he talks about how she "pulled ne through". That wasn't about a "motorcycle accident".
@Thundergod-4 жыл бұрын
@@jnagarya519 I very much doubt that Leon was trying to steal the spotlight with Dylan and Harrison on the stage. Klaus is so laid back that he probably didn't care as it looked like just an impulsive move by LR. As for the conspiracy theory regarding Bob's faking an injury I have no comment...

this is one of the best versions of "just like a woman" for sure. i was 5, got into Dylan in the early 80's, was introduced to rock and roll when my sister and future brother in law snuck me into the drive in in the cubby of the vw beetle she drove, tells me i knew all the lyrics to ziggy stardust when i was 6. george is my favorite beatle, and leon, well , is leon, mad dogs and englishmen, the best live album of all time, thank god for leon russell.

An incredible time to be alive and get to see legends in small venues not in 60k stadiums.

There's still lots of great live big time music in non-huge stadium venues.

It's a shame that more than 75% of today's population under 20 doesn't know who this legend is.

I was 19, living in the DC area and home from college for the summer. I heard the concert advertised on a local radio station and wrote away for tickets. My brother and I and some friends drove up to NYC for the evening concert. This song was hands down the highlight of the show, among many other highlights. Grateful I saw it.
