What a treasure! So much talent on stage, Ronnie Hawkins can just drink a beer in the back and Ronnie Wood barely makes it on camera

Ronnie Hawkins is such a vibe, kicking back with a drink in his hand, politely staying out of the way smiling, singing and taking in the whole experience.

This for me was the end of the Rock era ..right there on that stage ! Punk and new wave was already started and this was The Last Waltz giving a fond farewell to the greatest musical time in the history of the multiverse . For my dough too , it was the greatest concert / performance of that era too . The Band and friends . Goodnight ! Goodbye ! Incomparable !

...saw Dylan 4 times - he was my hero since 1972 when I discovered him through my bestest army buddy in Germany - practically wore out his Dylan LPs (Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vols 1 & 2)...two of those concerts were good, two sucked - as if he didn't give a shit - kinda like Darryl Strawberry of the 80s Mets - who if he FELT LIKE playing on a particular day would play like he was worth his multi-million dollar contract - but on day when he had NO DESIRE to be on the field, would just watch the ball sail over his head in the outfield...one of those good concerts was at the old Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach in the mid 90s - with Paul Simon - in fact, it was an EXCELLENT concert - just before intermission he and Paul did 'The Boxer' in a duet I'll remember forever......I memorized all his songs on my lat army buddy's LPs and have the CDs - I regularly play them in my car as great memories of my days in Germany (Nov '71 - Jul '74)...

Dicen que todo puede ser reemplazado They say ev'rything can be replaced, Sin embargo, toda distancia no es cercana. Yet ev'ry distance is not near. Entonces recuerdo cada cara So I remember ev'ry face De cada hombre que me puso aquí. Of ev'ry man who put me here. Veo mi luz brillar I see my light come shining Del oeste al este. From the west unto the east. Cualquier día de estos, cualquier día de estos, Any day now, any day now, Ya no voy a estar detenido. I shall be released. Dicen que todo hombre necesita protección. They say ev'ry man needs protection, Dicen que todo hombre debe caer. They say ev'ry man must fall. Sin embargo, juro que veo mi reflejo Yet I swear I see my reflection En algún lugar tan alto por encima de este muro. Some place so high above this wall. Veo mi luz brillar I see my light come shining Del oeste al este. From the west unto the east. Cualquier día de estos, cualquier día de estos, Any day now, any day now, Ya no voy a estar detenido. I shall be released. Parado a mi lado en esta multitud solitaria, Standing next to me in this lonely crowd, Es un hombre que jura que no tiene la culpa. Is a man who swears he's not to blame. Todo el día lo oigo gritar tan fuerte, All day long I hear him shout so loud, Gritando que fue incriminado. Crying out that he was framed. Veo mi luz brillar I see my light come shining Del oeste al este. From the west unto the east. Cualquier día de estos, cualquier día de estos, Any day now, any day now, Ya no voy a estar detenido. I shall be released.

Definitely, one of the greatest concerts ever, up-close and with good quality. Dylan's such an ass sometimes. As you say, so much recorded video was never released, controlled by Dylan? I've seen him 10 times live. Only liked one of his concerts, at a high school gym in Lisle IL, fantastic show and his voice was right on. Just about all of the other shows I've seen over the years, his voice and melodic structure of songs sucked. And he barely played guitar. The last one was a couple years ago @ Tinley Park Amphitheatre. More than half of the 28,000 walked out after a half hour. I got tix from somebody leaving and moved right up to the stage, where Dylan acted like he didn't give a shit. The show took in $7,000,000 at the gate alone. That's fine, I don't care about him personally either, but in his earlier days, he was a great poet and songwriter, and I'll listen to that stuff forever.

...agreed - saw Dylan about 34 or 4 times....seemed as if he wanted to be there he was good...if not ...he sucked. Best I saw him was at Coral Sky in West Palm Beach about 40 years ago - he was with Paul Simon...WOW whatta concert!!! Dylan' been my hero since I first heard him ca 1972 while I wads in Germany with the Army (Nov 71 - Jul 74)...my late 'bestest buddy' Rick introduced me to Dylan RIP Rick Waltrip...

You think he deserved the Nobel?
@LightninSky
@LightninSky 11 ай бұрын
@@Zenoithegreek I suppose, yeah, not so much for his books, but for his songs. They had such an impact on the political climate of the 1960s, and his words were magical and musical in themselves. I looked at the history of Nobel Prize for Literature winners and there were some even leaner winners, that is, writers who produced even less poems/songs than Dylan. A former teacher of mine at Goddard College, Louise Glück, won the prize in 2020. She published 12 books of poetry. Great poetry, BTW. So it looks like the Nobel Committee looks at quality and impact of work, rather than sheer volume, to make their selections.

Bob is more of a poet, than a singer.
@LightninSky
@LightninSky 8 ай бұрын
@@tshwenyegomakhaza9980 Definitely, though I would call him a troubadour, singer-songwriter, probably the best song writer ever, which is why he won the Nobel. His voice often is terrible. Sometimes it's on target, other times an annoyance. But his songs reverberate, both poetically and musically. He could compose melodies on the spot I imagine. But you're right, more the poet/rock composer than singer.
