@@DroolRockworm great point except for the fact that Lennon's song was released first and IS the definitive version (although Fionna Apple had a really good cover with it.) "Make You Feel My Love" was written by Dylan, but wasn't officially released until September of '97. The first release of that tune was by Billy Joel on his Greatest Hits, Vol 3 album in August. So, just because it came out first doesn't make it the definitive version. Even Dylan himself said that Jimi Hendrix owned "All Along The Watchtower" after he heard it. Is McCartney's demo of "Come and Get It" from the Anthology 3 album the definitive version? Nope. That's Badfinger.

Not only his song, but also the best version. In the hands of a young pop star, it reads as a borderline saccharine love song, tailor-made for weddings and what not. When Dylan does it, you can hear the pain, the weariness, the honesty in his voice. He actually sounds like a man who has been to hell and back, only to be sustained by a love he now realizes is more important than anything. But there’s a sense of melancholy, as though he may never return to the love he sings about. The eerie production enhances the mood.

I don't think it's underappreciated. It won the Grammy for album of the year and all Dylan fans know it's one of his very best. Daniel Lanois' production has a lot to do with it too.

Dylan has done other versions of this song, but this by far is his best. If I close my eyes, I can imagine my late husband saying those words to me!
@seanmeisner31904 жыл бұрын
Same with me and my late mate, except I was the one singing. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. If you can imagine him singing this song to you, he must have been a very kind-hearted man.

I first heard Bob Dylan when I was a young child, but it was in the late fall of 1998 when I heard Dylan perform live that my life changed for the better. I was going through a difficult time. Bob played this song. After that experience I couldn't stop listening to his music and reading his poetry. Together with family and friends I joyfully cried, laughed, and loved when listening to Bob Dylan's music. 🎶 Thanks Bob!

You do this all the time Bobby. Greatness has been thrust upon you and the crown fits well. On this important day, Easter Sunday, I am sending you my eternal love and thanks. xxxxxX❤️Xxxxxx

Such an amazing song. I had a conversation with my parents and someone mentioned this song by Adele and they had no idea Bob Dylan wrote it until I told them. It’s great to see how many Bob Dylan songs were covered by other people. A true master of music🙌🏼
