In high school, nearly 50 years ago good god, we had an art teacher with an amazing Dylan collection. He would let us play the records whenever. Near the end of the school year, a friend and I played Rainy Day Woman with his approval only he didn't know we had switched on the school-wide PA system. "Everybody must get stoned" played to a very appreciative audience.

There are also romantic songs such as Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands. This is the epitome of Dylan and deserves 5 out of 5 plus star and fireworks and plenty of thanks for all the memories.

Agreed! I’ve heard that said in numerous appraisals of the song, and why not? Didn’t he ask Mister Tambourine Man to play a song for him? Any gospel choir knows a tambourine will help with their presentation. Dylan viewed gospel music as part of the folk tradition in American music and wasn’t too proud to utilise it.

I bought this album at a flea market in Paris on a trip with my parents from Wiesbaden Germany from a crazy flea market. Got home played it on my crappy little compact turntable/speaker system and fell in love. To this day, “Visions of Johanna” still fascinates me. For me, eclectic and wonderful album

I can remember finding blonde on blonde at a jumble sale, when I was 10, back in 1985. In school our first task on Monday was to write about our weekend and I wrote about finding the record . I put down that my favourite song was everybody must get stoned but I forgot the singers name! As luck would have it that Monday night was parents night and the teacher said, to my mum, it looks like he's discovered Bob Dylan!!!! My Mother was mortified!! To me it will always be everybody must get stoned!!!

@@wolfie1027 Go to Bob Dylan's Wikipedia page and read even just the first paragraph. Right off the bat they say he is "widely regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time." That should be good enough reason alone to buy your gift

I first heard this song walking home (Grand Ave which was a portion of HIWAY 61) from High School on my Transistor radio on local AM radio station WEBC, Duluth MN. When the song was over, the DJ commented on "local boy made good". I had never heard of Bob Dylan before tho loved the covers of his songs by the Turtles, Byrds, etc. tho didn't understand why the song was about some one wanting to have rocks thrown at him....I may have been 1 of the 1st Dylan fan in Duluth and have been blessed to see him in concert many times and inter acted with him at the end of a concert in Orange County Calif in late 80's. At Back Stage Party after the concert, his Stage Mgr commented how much I enjoyed the concert,,tho would not let me see Bob..as he may "have left the building".. a wonderful memory none the less.
