Remarkable! I know it's recorded here - and I was alive at that time - but I can't imagine a time when one could be lucky enough to see Dylan sing a recently recorded, and unreleased, song! Magical times!

This is one of my favorite Live performances by any Artist. The fact that The Biggest Artist of the last 60+ years just shows up to play a new song. And the lyrics when understood in the context of his and Saras breakup, cut deep. Speaking specifically about Abandoned Love. Just brilliant.

This is a good example how great Dylan is ... someone who can afford that an outtake to be one of the best love songs ever written . By the way , u did a great remix as usual .

Shame in some ways that this version is so little known against the vastly inferior ‘Desire’ out-take. It deserves to be up with any of Bob’s best performances. Magical stuff, I never tire of hearing it. Thank you 👍

I worked there. Jack and I got high before every set. Great night!

I love BD (have-loved for 50 years) and I really love Abandoned Love and this is good. But I love the Desire outtake more. But we’re comparing apples and oranges: One is a studio version with 5 instruments. The other is a live version on solo guitar.
@FlaschDJ3 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t there but I drove a cab back then. Bob got in. I drove him home. I crashed at his apartment for 3 days, we jammed together on guitars, ordered-in Chinese food, co-wrote 2 songs (which later became hits), and he lent me $2,000. Well ... maybe not complete accurate. :)

Notice how quiet the audience was watching this magic. Today it would be nothing but constant screaming, applauding and that obnoxious high pitch wooing sound that people have to make now in order to be noticed.

I was there too, and sort of remember it as written. I remember looking over to Dylan when Elliot called him up; His first reaction was to put on his black leather jacket, despite the overwhelming July NYC heat that night. For years, the only line I could recall from the song was 'Send out for St John the Evangelist' which would be dropped from the recorded version.

That must have been amazing to be there...I would make a strong argument that it is definitively the greatest live performance I have ever heard.

@@ameerordimly1449 not sure what your problem is, yes I was there, people actually went to see live music then. I also saw Jimi Hendrix up close, I was at Woodstock, I shook hands with Dylan, I saw Led Zeppelins first US concert, I saw the Bands first concert in NYC, Traffics first cincert in the US, CSN&Y from the 5th row at the Fillmore, I was at the concert for Bengla Desh at the MSG, all before the age of 21. Abandoned Love I can hear the turning of the key I've been deceived by the clown inside of me. I thought that he was righteous but he's vain Oh, something's telling me I wear a ball and chain. My patron saint is fighting with a ghost He's always off somewhere when I need him most. The Spanish moon is rising on the hill But my heart is telling me I love ya still. I come back to the town from the flaming moon I see you in the street, I begin to swoon. I love to see you dress before the mirror Won't you let me in your room one time before I disappear? Everybody's wearing a disguise To hide what they've got left behind their eyes. But me, I can't cover what I am Wherever the children go I'll follow them. I can't play the game no more, I can't abide by their stupid rules which kept me sick inside They've been made by men who've given up the search Whose gods are dead and whose queens are in the church. I march in the parade of liberty But as long as I love you I'm not free. How long must I suffer such abuse Won't you let me see you smile before I cut you loose? Send out for Saint John the Evangelist All my friends are drunk, they can be dismissed. My head says that it's time to make a change But my heart is telling me I love ya but you're strange. So step lightly, darling, near the wall Put on your heavy make-up, wear your shawl. Won't you descend from the throne, from where you sit? Let me feel your love one more time before I abandon it.

Redheaded chicks are always known as the clowns, and everyone always looks at them with laughing frowns, but redheaded chicks always have the spunk to take many rounds, and they always take the heat and give and take with many sounds. It's legend where their hair originated from, some of it came from the shine of Venus, and some came from the sun. The Irish say it's just like walking into the mystic, and you never know what you're going to get until you see the mountain peek. Redheaded chicks are known as odd, but you'll never know until you see why and understand that they walk with God.
