I don't know how many times I've seen Bob Dylan in concert and for me it never gets old. The man is ageless and he's the greatest lyricists that ever lived.
@jonathanmyers3898 Жыл бұрын
My experience in concert is that you spend some time wondering what the heck he's doing tonight and then, if you're lucky, you get to see him absolutely nail something like it's never been nailed before, and it's worth it.

His Blood on the Tracks album was my first real introduction to Bob Dylan's music. I was already familiar with a couple of his earlier songs, but, that album made sit up and listen to his lyrics.
@pluggy86 Жыл бұрын
There are at least two other versions of this song with different lyrics. Definitley worth checking out. Not all the details are clear, but it's about a love triangle between the narrator, a woman, and a mutual friend. She's really gotten under his skin. After parting upteen times, he's looking for her again.

Every song on that album is a gem. I particularly recommend 'Shelter From the Storm' and 'Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts' - they are in the story-telling. As for this one - I think your interpretation is as good as any ... ! Btw: the Dylan company is notorious for blocking 'reactions', so ... good luck!

You really like him...don't you? I like him so much I can't even say. I own may be 300 CDs of him. He doesn't tell stories though, not in my opinion. His songs are just like glimpses of his mind. In this song he doesn't talk about just a single woman, he talks about different women I guess, then he put them toghether and the result is great. I have been listening to Dylan since I first heard him in 1965. I was six. Now I'm 62 and I'll tell you something. Some people don't like Dylan and I understand it. But if you like him, as I do, he goes deep into your soul, beyond any possible imagination. That's how I feel his music.

This whole album, Blood On The Tracks" is just great. Possibly my favorite Dylan album. I play guitar and harmonica and have done this song at open mics. I just wanted to say that. It's fun to do. Nice reaction.

That verse that mentioned "he started in to dealing with slaves", I always figured it was a metaphor for drugs. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me. I have watched a few of your Dylan reactions so far and they are really something special! Had to subscribe (and I clicked the bell too!) Much love.

Bob can do no wrong, there’s a video of him playing only a pawn in their game,the same day MLK gave his famous speech , when Bob played this song, was not that well known. I don’t know who knew about this song, but you can see him being moved forward by people. This event is a historic moment in American history. I first heard about early on. I learned so much from him and he never lied about anything. We still get to know he’s still with us. Lived in New Port Rhode Island and bought clothes from the same store store he bought clothes in. I had every album he made. I am also a Deadhead and met Jerry in 71 at my first show and he was sitting on the stage with his legs hanging over the edge. I was one of the first through the doors and saw him sitting there and walked over to him and asked if I could sit behind the amps and he said yes. I made my way up to the amps and went in the first opening between the amps and find Bear dropping liquid acid onto the back of people’s hands and then they licked it off. I stuck my hand out and he put four big drops on it and I licked it off. Bear even hooked me up with his local dealer. His acid was so good. Then Bob and the Dead went on tour and I followed along. Thanks to both Bob and Jerry and the band for a real good time.⚡️🎸⚡️

The only “breakup album” greater than “Rumors” by Fleetwood Mac. Dylan was the poet of Rock who taught the world you could say more in Rock songs than “ya, ya, ya”. He inspired all that followed to say something in their lyrics. You must react to “Lily, Rosemary & the Jack of Hearts”, it’s a novel in a song. ✌️❤️🎶

This song is amazing, great poem, story, song, everything. One of Dylan's best. The interesting thing is that a "topless place" and "dealing with slaves" would not be in the same era (?), and it shifts from 1st person to 3rd person (who is "he"?). There's a time shift in the song (much like Neil Young's - Cortez the Killer). No explanation, leaves a lot to interpretation.
