@@guillermorojascI mean, si te fijas hay otros aspectos que son similares , no sólo en México, si no en varias culturas en Latinoamérica. Como el pedir la bendición a los padres, tíos o abuelos, el respeto hacia los mayores inculcado en casa, y lamentablemente ciertas creencias misóginas, entre otras cosas.

It's more like a cultural way of paying respect to an elder/someone basically more advanced in age and life than you are. You don't address them by their first names. Instead Uncle or Aunty is used.

Didn't you notice when Bob called the taxi driver that picked them up after they came back from the wedding in Nigeria uncle? And the man was like uncle???? And Bob had to explain to which Abishola said "I see my country has robbed off on you."
