When I got Covid last year and was out of work for a week and a half, it took about one day after the news got out for all the aunties to be sending their kids or siblings (basically whoever in the family who had gotten a license and car first) over to my village with pots of my favorite Afghan dishes; I live almost an hour from town and up an unpaved mountain road, so this was no small feat. Even when I was doing better and assuring them that my fridge and freezer were overflowing, the general response was “the food helped you feel a bit better, so more food will obviously cure you”. Even after I was basically recovered, it took a while for them to ease up on the impromptu meal train 🤣
