My Grandfather was part of the service force that transported him around the ETO after VE Day. He actually drove that group around and had autographs from them all. He lived until he was 99 and always smiled when you mentioned their names. Wonder if they knew then how special they were to so many.

Interestingly, Bob Hope was born a British citizen. His parents became naturalized citizens of the United States in 1917 and that made Bob one as well.

He lived till 100 yrs old. What a life he lived. Funny how he is remembered more than the dead soldiers after it ended.

He had a lot of interests. He became one of the richest entertainers in Hollywood and one of the biggest,if not the biggest, philanderer in Hollywood. His wife tolerated him only because she was a devout Catholic and did not believe in divorce. But regardless of that he did a wonderful job entertaining the troops in world war II and after.
