Saddened by the passing of Mr. Sanborn. A very accomplished, soulful jazzy sax player. He said he was quote 'coming out of the blues/R&B side of the spectrum', Whichever it was, he appealed to my ears and sensibilities. Sympathies to his family and fans. One love.

I learned about Mr. Sanborn's passing two days after it happened, and cried. He was my favorite saxophonist. No matter the genre of music, not only did he know how to feel the emotions of each tune he played, he was gifted enough to make an audience feel each and every note and emotion as well. Rest In Peace and Power David Sanborn.

Excellent video.. fits the song and the album cover perfectly. RIP David Sanborn. I was lucky enough to see him and Bob James together in Fresno, CA at the Rotary Amphitheater back in 2014. Closed the show with my favorite, Maputo. I was easily the youngest person at the concert but probably one of the most rabid fans. Didn't want to swim through the crowd to meet him but wish I had at least expressed my gratitude for filling my childhood with some beautiful sounds that stick in my head to this day. My daughter plays sax now and knows his name.. I made sure of that.

Maybe the reason I first fell in love with Jazz was the timeless aspect of the genre? I can only listen to top 40 radio for a short length of time before I return to what I will always appreciate most about this genre-- it seeming timelessness.

I have a certain temperament, a disposition that I think lends itself to not playing outside the lines that much. But I do test the boundaries, certainly, and break one or two of my own. Some people are mystified by it, but not me. David Sanborn
