Esto es la España de 5 años después de la Dictadura en que los discos llegaban (si llegaban) con años de retraso y nadie sabía nada de nadie que no fuera del Mainstream oficial de canciones de amor en españos y folklore rancio, es una entrevista pedagógica para el público general, esto tiene 40 años casi!! Es como exigir que los discos de los 50 suenen como los de hoy. Gracias aún de que exista y lo cuelguen!!

Que un país tenga su propia música no es para nada rancio, de hecho la música de aquí estaba muy influenciada por el exterior pero se personalizaba de una manera muy particular ,aquí el rock surgió antes que en otros países y con más poesía y calidad que tienes en bandas de rock americanas o anglosajonas ,quizás menos fuertes y con menos seguidores pero musicalmente más bonitas y con más sentimiento,la calidad de la música no la ponen el número de seguidores eso es un error,y todos se dan golpes en el pecho diciendo que los mejores guitarristas de rock,aquí en un país tan pequeño y ridículo, han salido los mejores guitarristas del mundo tomate,Paco de Lucía ,cepero etc etc ,cantaores bailaores etc,es un país que tenía y tiene mucha potencia musical,muchas veces influenciada y readaptada a su país e ideosincracia,hasta el hip hop es mucho más poético y bello,que el americano que sólo habla de bandas ,putas y dinero,para críticar algo se debe de conocer,pero aunque en la dictadura había en parte lo que dices había bandas de rock como Triana ,grupos de canción protesta y música muy variada,algo que en otros países durante su dictadura sería casi una quimera,otra cosa que hubiera una música más afín al régimen que este lógicamente fomentaba,pero españa ha tenido una influencia tremenda en la música nada más que el flamenco que ha influenciado tremendamente a otros estilos musicales como el blues fado etc,y gracias al blues soul etc que tiene mucha influencia en el flamenco se vivió la explosión del rock ,ska ,punk ,pop y la gran mayoría de estilos musicales que hoy disfrutamos,y dirás qué pesado eres con el flamenco,pues se puede ser ya que es patrimonio inmaterial de la humanidad y ha influenciado en toda la miríada de músicas latinas y de todo el planeta,ahora que le hagan una entrevista así a Bob Marley es normal se salía de una dictadura ya el reggae había pasado un poco de moda,en aquella época en España llegaba el rock más comercial el reggae era un poco hippie y underground hasta en países anglosajones,la muerte de este ídolo solo hizo que aumentar su figura como ha pasado con muchos otros Kurt kobain o más recientemente Amy Winehouse,ahora haces un concierto con este tío vivo y las entradas te las quitan de las manos era muy bueno un adelantado a su tiempo y ojo un incomprendido y no solo en España en otros lugares también ,me parece una entrevista correcta y muy respetuosa teniendo en cuenta de que se venía y que aquí era prácticamente un desconocido,me gustaría ver qué entrevista le harían en cualquier otro país de habla hispana o en la URSS.

@olumwandishi : Ha.Ha. I totally see your point. Bob Marley was indeed annoyed by the question posed him. I personally am an avid Rolling Stones fan, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I also admire and enjoy the music of Bob Marley as well. Each artist has something to offer and the above mentioned are good in their own right. How refreshing it is to look back at a time when music scouts would sign artists based on the music itself and musicians would make music due to their love of it.

I will try. First he asks him what is his opinion on the reggae music at that time. Bob says, "I think it is good that a lot of musicians discover reggae." Then he asks which reggae groups he likes the most. Bob says, "Reggae groups? Most of them. Most of them." Interviewer: Do you like Peter Tosh? Bob: Yeah. Interviewer: What is your opinion of the Rolling Stones? Bob: Well, you know...I don't, I don't know (laughs) The interview then talks about how Bob and Peter are the leaders of reggae. Then he says I think we will listen to a little Peter Tosh. Video cuts... Interviewer: What do you think of Ska groups? Bob: Ska, I figure (Spanish translation) we did ska about twelve years ago. Ska developed from rocksteady. Reggae is a development going up ya know. The interviewer asks what he likes working on. Bob says, "Uprising." The interviewer then asks about his message. Bob says, "Consciousness." The interviewer then asks about Chris Blackwell. Bob says, "Chris Blackwell is a man that we work with, ya know." The interviewer then introduces Chris Blackwell as the owner of Island Records who discovered Bob Marley. He asks Blackwell about his search for Bob Marley. Blackwell talks about starting Island Records and going to Jamaica to sign Bob Marley. Interviewer: Did you sign Bob Marley because you like the music? Blackwell: Because I like the music and I think he is more than just a regular singer and writer. Interviewer: Do you think without Bob Marley reggae would still exist? Blackwell: The reggae would certainly exist, just we wouldn't be standing here right now. Interviewer: Where are we going to arrive with reggae? Blackwell: Where can it go? (yes) I think it will be accepted as just part of music. I think there is something that is good that is reggae, there is something that is not good as well. Interviewer: Why does reggae influence rock music so much? Blackwell: Because traditional music influences rock music. Rock music used to be the blues with early rock and roll. Then it was Chuck Berry and all that stuff with the Beatles. And today the influence is Reggae Music. The interviewer asks him about electrifying the music. Blackwell: No we didn't change the music. We did something similar to Traffic or King Crimson. We didn't change the music.
