Rastafari.... One love... Respect... That place has changed alot, when i went there almost 20yrs ago, it wasnt such a tourist attraction. You went in the main house, as we walked in there was a man there handing each if us a joint, there was a bar and a balcony that looked out to the road. There was a small rain shower and a beautiful little waterfall began down the rocks it was amazing. Bobs room didnt look like that either the bed was under the window and the dresser/desk wasnt there. There was a rock outside the house with the words "bobs pillow" painted on it. And there was a makeshift "kitchen" outside.The mausoleum only had the one painting on the front. Oh and the main road was gravel i remember it well cause we paid our tour guild $60usd to take us down the road to the weed fields. A car with a megaphone on top drove past us on the walk we didnt realize till we watched the video at home that he was saying "dollars, dollars, dollars" and all the kids came running to us asking "can you give me someting". It was a trip i will never forget

The only thing I regret is that Bob Marley had never made a concert here in the Philippines at least once in his career. But I guess it’s understandable as during his lifetime Filipinos had never heard or even was familiar with Reggae at that time. It was all pop and love songs and such. And his career was at his peak during our Martial Law era, so President Ferdinand Marcos would have never allowed him to perform here during that time as most of Bob’s songs talk about liberation and freedom which was a big no-no to President Marcos during his time as a dictator. Mr. Bob Marley, had you performed here in the Philippines it could have made a big difference to us. Thank you for your Message and your Music. 🙏

All gone now !! and the building was small and modest - with stained glass windows. I took pictures ... SLIDES ... (jeez) which I hope I can find again someday ... maybe in my son's attic in the usa ...... AND .... I thought his final concert was in Philadelphia PA the day after he passed out in Central Park ?? This has been soooo built up !! multi level buildings ... stairs and stairs !! not there before !! there was a dirt path, lined with all the flags of Africa ..... so different in t;his video !

@DiveDiscover6 жыл бұрын

He also said that the marble stones are a gift of the italian government. But my english is not the best may be someone else can figure out more ?! Hey guys here : Help us ! I'm not really sure about your last question but I think you mean the window at 6:12. You can only see it just for a second. Hi thank you so much for the answers I love to ask questions because that is how one learns everyday is a new day to learn. I have studied The Honourable Mr Robert Nesta ''Bob'' Marley O.M. since 1974 the year I left school and the year No Women No Cry hit the world. I had my first Son the same year that Bob left for MT Zion 1981. I can not get enough of Bob the Rastaman he taught the world so much I still learn something new from Bob every day. I only play his and his son's music love it. I know Bob inside out right down to his peppermint soap he used. Because of Bob I have become the top reggae writer on the internet. I really have to wonder why they have covered Bob's Name on his tomb up The guide was talking about Bob's last concert not sure if I heard him right but Bob's last concert the Stanley Theatre, Pittsburgh, PA, September 23, 1980. The last song Bob ever sung was get up stand up. If you want to know anything about Bob just ask ok lol. One day I might just get to Jamaica to see the legends resting place. ONE LOVE and Jah Bless

Hi Rhonda...nothing to thanks for ! *ONELOVE* - The story about you and the legend is awesome ! And you're right, last concert was in Pittsburgh. For those not aware the family was basically poor. The money came in later on after the family gain control of his estate and likeness. We as fans would love to see how everything looked the originally before all of the upgrades and whatnot. As far as them having all these different ways to make money good for them. I always say why shouldn't the family reap all of the benefits when somebody else is going to try and do the same thing

I had a dream that woke me up tonight , I was taking a black and white photograph of Bob and his wife sitting looking to their right , pausing after deep reasoning . Then I walked up the stairs to lock the door that’s when I realized it that we were all inside the mausoleum . It was deeply silent outside just trees around. I know what the dream means I hope to stay long enough to make an impact one Love ❤️ One eternity ✨ 🚪 ✨ where we all shall meet !

I don’t mean to sound rude but is it really allowed to smoke whilst inside the mausoleum when I noticed the rest of the tourists aren’t smoking.....? 😳
@DiveDiscover5 жыл бұрын
Hi and no problem in any way. It is even gladly seen. It's for myself a kind of raspect you have to show if you like to. Not everyone who visits smokes 😉
@JCORaven12105 жыл бұрын
I went there a couple weeks ago, and loved it. While inside, you can only smoke a joint, which you can pickup outside of the compound. But if you try to smoke a cigarette, they will ask you to put it out, as it shows disrespect, since Bob didn't smoke it. You will see the workers smoking a joint as well and you may see one rolling one. So expect to see that. I smoked one as well, and a few others in my tour did as well. But you can eat a brownie, or have a tea. So the other people might be enjoying it another way. If your going to see Bob Marley, its expected you will be around people smoking that or selling

That was not Bob Marley's Grave. They do NOT allow filming or pictures where Bob Marley is buried.
@Equalone19053 жыл бұрын
Uh? From 6:55 the guide is clearly saying that's Bob Marley and his brother 's grave. Or are you implying that he's lying?

It's not worth discussing 😉 I know where I've been and I also know what I've filmed, despite my condition there 😂

Do you have to book before visiting?
@tainamcginty53986 жыл бұрын
rich Mck ...oh no, of course not. You just come with preferably a bus ( like hundreds of people every day of the week ). The buses stop at the backyard. Then you ‘ll climb the many stairs to the front yard. There’s the shop where you simply pay for the guided rounds to Bob’s tomb, the house and around in general. When you get there I’ll advise you to ask when Captain Crazy will be guiding the tour. He’s actually the real reason why so many ppl come to 9 Miles village. He’s a great, smart and kind man. Not to mention funny! Just take care of your wallet...also don’t give anything to the kids and be kind to the villagers. They are ordinary people who don’t take any shit from tourists. Otherwise...you’re very welcome! Blessings!
@DiveDiscover6 жыл бұрын
No, you don't have to book but I recommend you a private transfer. In a small group you will have better prices and you can stop where you like to ;) My priority was to visit Bob but Captain Crazy is an awesome guy :) Barky does his job also more as well. He's a old wise man...loved his words.

Thanks for the info. I will get in touch again if necessary. A great help.
@tainamcginty53986 жыл бұрын
Dive&Discover ...yes,you’ll definitely see more if you come to 9 Miles in a taxi. But on the other hand you’ll be safer in a bus. Jamaica, unfortunately, is very violent and has high criminality nowadays. Such a pity in the paradise like JA. And 9 Miles, a rasta base camp, though it’s a small village, makes no exception. Some taxis, especially in Kingston, will empty your pockets with high prices. Coming from Mobay is much cheaper. And there’s also an international airport. But all’s up to you, any which way you’ll prefer. Peace every time!
@tainamcginty53986 жыл бұрын
rich Mck ... oh yes, and if you’ll stay overnight in 9 Miles, NEVER flash money! That would be highly unwise! 🤔

@DiveDiscover6 жыл бұрын
