One thing I've been puzzled by with remix dub like this, is HOW do you separate out the instruments and vocals from the full Someone care to explain? I've been wanting to try making this sort of dub but don't quite know how partially due to that fact.

Blessings, thanks for the interest! Getting the multi-track stems is the hardest part of DUBBING! I personally don't separate out the instruments from vocals, etc. This is the form the song is in when it is first recorded, each instrument, vocal & mic recorded separately. The producer then mixes the stems together, ads EQ, compression & other effects and bounces the song down before sending it on to get mastered - after which, the final mix is what get's released. Some bands (through remix competitions, etc) have their stems available and there are also some available online through various avenues. Reaching out & working with local / up & coming bands is one great way to get stems. There are also people who separate the tracks out themselves after the fact but the quality is usually poor. Good Luck & Happy Dubbing!
