What I’ve come to innerstand about Rastafari music is that nobody sets out to be a ‘star’. It’s not for fame, recognition or money - it’s about the power of the word and the music. I have been a fan of this genre for so many years and only in the last few days am I coming to see this truth. Bob wasn’t trying to be a global superstar, he was spreading the word of truth and light. It’s given me a new perspective and deep respect for his music and all of the other truth speakers, Jah9 and Vaughn Benjamin 🕊 are just two other exquisite examples.

I saw an interview once some 30 years ago with a Jamaican man who had been orphaned or abandoned as a child and if memory serves, grew up surviving rough in the street with his brothers. One day, Bob Marley pulled up in a car, saw they were suffering and took them up town and bought them shoes and tracksuits. Made me cry my eyes out. That's the Bob I always looked/look up to, the alleviator, the shepherd, the prophet. He did some damn good music too!
