Being a drummer, I have to say Carlton Barrett is one of my all-time favorites. No one talks about him, but he is laying down the wood.😎

Couldn’t agree more, this is one of my favorite live recordings of the Wailers. And the way Carlton Barrett plays this song, it is truly a masterpiece.
@Boy_GentleАй бұрын
Tell me about it. I sometimes listen to this song just to hear the drumming. Carlton is my favorite drummer; it seems like he’s sending a message of healing and encouragement with his style of drumming; so much grove, so much vibe. This is drumming at its best

Bob had the whole Wailers musicians and the I threes on point live. 1977 at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park up the road from where i lived in Hackney. Wasn't old enough but always regret never hearing Bob live. Went from Hackney with my bruv in 82 i think it was would have been 13/14 to watch Black Uhuru with Sly n Robbie play live at Crystal Palace football ground. Black Uhuru them days were opening concerts for the biggest rock acts like the Rolling Stones.

Carlie and Aston had the "lock". Carlie could go anywhere on the kit, shift time, expand time, or just stay in the pocket and did, knowing Aston played that bass like building a structure. 💯 Solid.

A lot of people don't know he quoted a lot of the bible in his music. He read the bible all the time. He didn't subscribe to the Jesus as Saviour message though until the end of his life. His Rastafari school of thought was that Emperor Selassie of Ethiopia was a messiah but he then died, so I guess not. Selassie was actually a Christian and didn't like the Rasta's worshipping him and tried to send a missionary to tell them this. That's the time allegedly Bob gave his life to Jesus and got baptised. This is not well known though. So his understanding of God was that he was real, but who the messiah was went a bit off track earlier on. But whatever faith, we know he WAS GIFTED and used his gift; such an amazing musician, writer and singer!! So special. 💖💖 Will he be in heaven?? I HOPE SO!!

The kings of earth set themselves up and rulers conspire together against Adonai and against His Anointed One: “Let’s rip their chains apart, and throw their ropes off us!” He who sits in heaven laughs! Adonai mocks them.” Psalms 2:1-4 “Let God arise! Let His enemies be scattered! Let those who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is blown away, may You blow them away. As wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God. But let the righteous be glad. Let them exult before God. Let them rejoice with gladness.” Psalms 68:2-4
