So, if Bob was baptized Orthodox 7 months before his death, and his wife is still a practicing Orthodox believer, it stands to reason that his joining the Church had a true impact on him, though God can only know anyone's true heart. I know what it is like to be baptized Orthodox, I was in 2007; one cannot be Orthodox, (like Haile Selassie was), and also believe that Jesus returned as Haile Selassie- (even he did not believe this about himself). When someone is baptized Orthodox they renounce all contrary beliefs, spit on the devil, and invite a different Spirit to inhabit the inner sanctuary of their heart. That is when they are infused with God's Holy Spirit. There is not room for two spirits in one heart. As Abuna Yesehaq says, "everyone is entitled to choose and believe the way they want to.." What I don't understand is that as far as I know, none of Bob Marley's children who have gone on to pursue a career in music have made a confession of Christian faith, Ethiopian Orthodox or otherwise. Though they may have followed in his footsteps musically, they have stopped short of following through on his example in becoming a follower of Christ months before his death. Also, as far as I know, neither has Rita although I believe there are articles stating that she and Ziggy (and perhaps some of the other children) had already become Ethiopian Orthodox Christians prior to Bob's conversion and baptism. One would think that with such a radical proclamation, and thereby a renunciation of the deity of Emperor Hailee Selassie I, that this would have made a dramatic impact on Bob's children and that the gospel would be central to their message, yet apparently it is not. I do understand that there are many Rastas who worship Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and see H.I.M. as an example as a leader who is a follower of Messiah.

Bob could not have simultaneously worshipped the biblical Christ whose second coming has not yet occurred AND also worshipped the Emperor Hailee Selassie I as the reincarnation of Christ at the same time. At some point he had to come to the realization that at the very best, Selassie was an icon of Christ, or kingly example as a leader but NOT the reincarnation of Christ. According the the Archbishop, this is the revelation he must have experienced months before his passing. I believe Bob was a seeker of truth and had allowed the colonial imperialists, racists, and bigots who claimed (and misappropriated) Christian faith (but denied the power thereof by their living) to sour him on the Christian faith, therefore he instead looked to the words of Marcus Garvey who had spoke of a King rising in the east, who supposedly would be the returning Christ. When one connects the dots it's not hard to see why many black descendants of slaves rejected what they perceived was a false Christianity but in the end it is the Holy Spirit who reveals who God (JAH) truly is and who Messiah, the Son truly is. And who the Son sets free is free indeed.

Tbh it doesnt matter to me if Bob converted to Christianity or not. When one studies these religions ie, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, you see they all interrelate and have their origins in ancient Nubia and Egypt. You also see the ways of the East ie Buddhism, Hinduism etc share stories, symbols and fables with Christianity and the other Abrahamic religions. Tribes in East Africa untouched by any of the Abrahamic religions knew Adam and Eve but in their interpretation it wasn't Eve that was tricked by the serpent but both of them. All are different paths to the same thing whether you wan call it God, Jah, Krishna, Siva the Tao, only difference is the time and environment these ways of life manifested themselves. If you check the song "Just Rasta" by Sugar Minott I believe you find the conclusion that Bob eventually came to which is that the "different order" of Rasta which they ascribed to the belief that Christ and Selassie are two different people, that "Jesus Christ a Him die fe we" while "yes, Selassie a de king fe we, open your eyes and you will see."
